Has anyone tried this ballast spreader?!
This showed up on my facebook page. I usually ignore such things, but this caught my attention. Has anyone heard of this company or used this ballast spreader?! Looks very efficient to me which is why I am thinking of getting one. Plus there is the "kewl" factore! Thanks

I fund a prototype pic showing how diffent rail heights are joined; I thought it might be useful for some. Pic's copywrited, so here's the link:

Old Micro Engineering code 83 track and Fast tracks.
I did a search and I may have a problem. I measured my code 83 and its .74 wide. Not sure if it will fit the code 70 fixture I am considering buying. I understand the new code 83 is a bit smaller and the code 70 turnout fixture fits both. But mine is pre 1988 or so. It is the old stuff they used to make. I am presently just using the templates but it would be faster using the fixture if my rail will fit. I have a bunch of the old stuff.
Is anyone using the fastracks fixtures with old code 83 ME rail?
QSI Q1a decoders: can identical locos have their engine sounds slightly de-synced?
I am MU'ing two identical Walthers H10-44 switchers, each outfitted with a factory-installed QSI Q1a decoder. I cannot find any information in the literature on how to make each engine sound a tiny bit different from the other so that it is obvious there are two prime movers working.
I also have some Tsunami decoders that have this available as an option and it really makes a difference in sound when a consist goes rumbling by.
Track trouble
Hello, I have an issue that I need help resolving. I just finished my layout and I have one spot where the engine just quits running on. I believe the switch is the culprit since the current before the switch is good but once you check the switch it drops considerably or will not show at all. Would the best solution be to replace the switch? This is a manual switch. Do switches go "bad" in this manner?
HELP!! Wiring Challenge for my layout
This is a section of my layout. I need some help to properly wire this section for DCC. My difficulty is how to wire for the 2 WYEs in the section. Also I would like to know if the 2, 90 degree double crossovers need special wiring . Please any help would be appreciated.
Help selecting a decoder
I have done quite a few Athearn blue box decoder installs but I really do'nt do sound. A friend asked me to put sound decoders in two units for him and I am looking for a reasonable decoder choice for the alco 244 engine or a generic diesel decoder that would be good for these units. I do'nt want to buy a computer interface to download the sound or other extra costs and if possible I have several of the standard connectors for digitrax and would these fit others? I will also be installing LED lights.
Thanks for your help.
Loksound Alco244
I have done a search of videos with sound decoders in Alco loco's. I have a handful of older Atlas and Kato units and I am ready to take the plunge and modify these loco's. . I am going to use Loksound for the RS-2's and 3's. I really like the sound of that rs-3 on the Switching Andover video. Almost like the maintenance shop left some parts a little loose.
Has anyone converted their NCE Procab starter system to wireless?
I've been thinking of doing this but even after quite a bit of searching and talking to other modeler's I've been getting some conflicting information.
Has anyone here actually done it?
Using Circuitron FL-2 for ho vehicle rooftop flashers
I have an old Circuitron FL-2 alternating flasher unit that I want to supply a number of police cars for the roof top light bars. The light bars consist of Incandescent 1.5 volt 30mA bulbs. Each car consists of two bulbs each. The question is: Using a 12 volt input power supply, how many cars can I hook up to make flash? The FL-2 has a load capacity of 250. Thanks in advanve for any help!
