Benchwork and roadbed

Anyone used .22 Rimshot nails to hold studs to concrete?

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has used Rimshot(or other) .22 shell fired nails to put 2x4 studs on concrete walls.   I hope to minimize legs this way.   The benchwork at this time is planned to be between 8 and 16 inches deep, simple 1x4 or less framework to support 2" foam subroadbed.   Was hoping to cantilever off the 2x4s to hold most of the weight, but an occaisional leg wouldn't bother me too much.  Plan on going around the walls with a couple large free standing peninsulas.

Trying to lay out a super accurate 45 degree module

Getting ready to set up for the PNW FreemoN guys to come over next month.  One of the things we want to accomplish is to build a full 360 degrees worth of curved modules.  I got all my calculations done and CAD work laid out.  I am designing each module so that the outside fascia length does not exceed 48", that way I can cut a strip across the width of a sheet.

Here is my CAD drawing

Sealing Homasote

If you use Homasote, do you seal it and if so, what do you use?

Monocoque backdrops

In the quest for ultra thin backdrops down the center of my peninsula I'd been planning to laminate a couple of sheets of masonite back to back. Alas, a trip to the big box stores (and a higher end lumber yard) shows that 1/8" masonite/hardboard seems to have waves/ripples in it. This made me apprehensive that I'd have trouble getting it flat and straight, especially for the straight sections of the backdrop between curves.

Attaching fascia to foam

On my expansion area, which is 2" foam, I am about to attach some hardboard as a fascia, in a curved area.  I was thinking of running 1x2 or 2x2 from the benchwork out to the fascia as support, then thought "well, yeah, but foam-safe adhesive the thing too".

I wonder about sag and support.  I've never done a fascia so this is new to me.

Roadbed in Staging?

Do you use roadbed for your staging and hidden track?

If so, why?

I am considering just attaching my hidden track directly to the bare plywood.

N scale coffee table questions

Looking to build one. I've seen a few threads here regarding them, but have a question:
