TMTV Blog entry - Getting fired up

TMTV blog entry: Trevor gets fired up ...

Trevor Marshall gets fired up in his latest blog post about TMTV's new series that covers doing live steam in the garden. You don't want to miss the playful video short Sausages and Steam, which you can link to from this blog post.

HO Scale Fire Truck Choices

One of the scenes planned on my "1980s era" HO scale layout is a  building fire scene to include fire engines of that era. (60s, 70s, era trucks would also be prototypical of my era)

Busch and Athearn make a few of that era but the "pickings" seem to be slim in HO scale.  Fireman figures I can find are either 1950s era or modern European.

Step Drills on sale

In the most recent episode of Notch 8, Efram Ellenbogen uses a step drill to make a hole for a replacement fan on the top of an SD40-2. To my eye he is using a set of 3 that are Mastercraft brand. These are available from Canadian Tire in Canada. This week Canadian TIre has the set of three step drills on sale for $13.99 (CDN) down from $39.99 (CDN). I have already been to town to get my set. Next up, attacking an SD40-2!

Video interuptions

One thing that irritates me about the host/guest videos I've watched, is the constant interruptions and talking over the guest by the host. I would ignore it if it was only one host, but I've seen the same behavior by multiple "hosts".

Their banter is usually totally unnecessary, and aggravating to listen to. Let the guest give his presentation without the inane interruptions and you will have a much more coherent, concise, and pleasant video.

These are my opinions and you are free to share yours also.

Powering turnout frogs

I see in the new MR magazine (News & Products) that ANE Model has a new SmartFrog V.4 board for powering turnout frogs.  Their website and instructions are not clear if these are similar to the popular Tam Valley Frog Juicers circuits. The picture of the new board shows multiple screw wire connections where it appears that 8 frogs could be attached.  I was wondering if anyone has tried this new product and whether it really can handle more frogs than its Tam Valley counterpart.

Notch 8 is a hit!

Just finished watching the first episode of Notch 8 on Trainmasters TV. Trevor is an excellent host and the guest Efram is very well spoken and his skill shines through. I look forward to many more episodes of this series.
