Proto 2000 FA-1 vs FA-2

Hello

When Proto 2000 did their Alco FA-1 and FA-2 models a number of years ago, did they use the same tooling for both the FA-1 and FA-2 or was it actually different? If yes, was the FA-1 or the FA-2 used for the base tooling?

I have been out of model railroading for a long time [ten years], but playing with SCARM and some track plan books has kind of given me the itch again, that and visiting the local rr club's open house night.

And I find that the TP56 exists and it really tickles my love for esoteric motive power. That and it seems a literal halfway point between a road switcher and a shunter/shifter, supposedly weighing 80-100 tons.

Arizona & California GP35's

After befriending an old trainmaster for the Arizona & California Railroad and seeing the exceptional work here at The Railwire, I wanted to try my hand at modeling with more of a prototype focus.  I've always been a fan of GP35's and the A&C has one particular locomotive that is an ex-SP unit that has some neat detail that would push my modeling skills and hopefully teach me some things. I decided to build two of these locomotives so I would have the extra practice and two unique pieces of equipment.  The prototype is ARZC 3503, ex-SP 6356.

Athearn - Genesis RDG GP39-2 #3416...

Another locomotive has been added to the RDG fleet this week.  An Athearn - Genesis RDG GP39-2 #3416.

Genesis SD60

Since Athearn just announced the SD60E with all new tooling, I am hoping that maybe, just maybe they will also do a Genesis standard cab variation.  Has anybody heard anything?

So, I have a request for anyone at the National Train Show.  Would anyone of you ask the Athearn reps if that is in the cards?

DC locomotive needing to be hand-started - help?

Hi all,

My train club recently asked me to build a locomotive for them, to run back and forth on a mining line above the club's O/On30 layout.  The donor is one of the HO scale Bachmann Christmas Trolleys (http://shop.bachmanntrains.com/images/HO_Scale/61040.jpg).

CY&P #1 joins the roster.

I've had an MDC boxcab laying around for many years.  I was going to re-motor it, but the chassis design was such a bear, I couldn't come up with a plan.  Quite some time ago I ran on to this article on how to use a Bachmann 44-ton chassis to accomplish this:

MV Products marker lights lenses: to peel or not to peel?

Good Evening:

I've purchased multiple packs of .052" MV Products clear lenses. For those not in the know, these are just about marker light or class light size lenses. I'm looking for tips on installing these.

Pre-ordered from 2 different shops

These long lead times for loco pre-orders combined with me getting older makes for model railroading fun.

Tsunami2 vs. LokSound for authentic FM Train Master (H-24-66) sounds?

Good evening! I'm new to the MRH forums, but have found lots of terrific insight here, all for the price of a thunderstorm.
