Bench work in progress (finally!)

Welcome to my new adventure. After many years of inactivity, a friend asked my help in dismantling his 24'x16' layout which has spurred me into creating it a new home. The problem is that I don't really have a space quite like his and wouldn't have designed a railway like his (nor really want one like that).

My space is similar in size but in plan only. The end walls slope from 4' height up to 11' at the center. The overall size is the same but to the exterior of the walls so everything is shorter and narrower.

Grimes Line Update

Finished up most of the scenery between Hickman Road and Millard Lumber on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.  This is a heavily wooded area on the prototype and I wanted to best simulate the tree tunnel found along the line.

Best,
James

Using Spline Roadbed in Helix

I am in the process of rebuilding my N-scale layout in a dedicated out-building (interior space 15'3" x 24'11").  The out-building is heated and air conditioned.  The layout was previously in a large room in my house but had to be torn down to make room for family (kids & grandkids).  That layout was an N-scale version of Bruce Chubb's original Sunset Valley but with an ATSF flair.  The concept for the new layout is blending some of my old one with some of CHuck Hitchcock's previous ATSF Argentine Division but in a freelanced fashion.

Benchwork for the G&AM is complete

I've done it: the benchwork is complete and 65 lights have been installed. Now I can start cutting plywood. We will see whether my track plan survives the contact with reality.

Monsanto Company

To All: Monsanto company was a major industry in E. St. Louis in the 1960's. It was a producer of herbicides, animal hormones and agricultural seeds. I scratch built the silos and hopper loader for this industry. I have to add another siding and office building to the site. This industry is located next to the PRR's Rose Lake Yd in Terra Haute, Indiana on the E. St. Louis Rail Group layout. To see photo, click Monsanto title in above post then click attachment image number.
