CNY&NE Additional Pictures

Here are some additional pictures from my CNY&NE Railroad. These are taken from the West Maywood side of the railroad.  This area has the team track, West Maywood industrial track and the connection with the L&HR railroad. There are lots of switching opportunities on this side of the layout.

CVP -EasyDCC Booster & Power Supply

I am interested in buying (1) or (2) 5 amp boosters & power supplies that CVProducts used to sell (now out of production). Does anybody out there have or know of someone who would like to sell them.

JL&T Railroad - L&T Branch - Photo Backdrops...

Hi everyone, as part of my progression with the scenery on the L&T Branch I have started playing around with photo backdrops for the entrance to the L&T.

Over the last few days I have been scouring the internet looking for all manner of photos of industrial, commercial & residential areas to use as photo realistic backdrops.  The method I have been using is to take a photo of the area on the layout viewed from its most common angle, then on Pixelmator (OSX equivalent of Photoshop) I have been placing the backdrop photo into the actual layout scene.

Building a GE 85 ton steeple cab: The Trucks Get updated

So I fixed the weak spots and added an end piece to the truck.

I use the 3D program Alibre Personal Edition for all of my drawings. Most of what was fixed you can't see.

I also am drafting this at 1:1 and then I scale to HO.

The ends are raised as that way the parts print as 4 parts not one.

We will see what it looks like when I send it to the printer in a couple of weeks.

Scale Model Animation 4 – Critter Guidance, Sensors, & Fun

Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! This time I show how The Crane Critter finds its way, using a simple application of a terrific magnetic sensor that modelers of all kinds should really understand. I’ll point you to some parallels in robotics—now don’t get scared off – that might give us modelers some new ideas for our layouts, and why scale model animation is different… and the same! Maybe scale model animation taken to the limit is Micro-Robotics?

CNY&NE Freelanced Railroad

This is my blog for the building of the Central New York and New England Railroad HO model railroad.  The CNY&NE is a freelanced HO model railroad that generally covers the Maybrook, NY area in the 1955 era.

Slow but steady

I think one of the most discouraging things about a layout is the sheer time it takes to build one.  In this day of instant access to almost everything via the internet, building a layout is a long, drawn out process.  Whether its dull (or parts of it are dull) is up to you.
