Trucks - Ford, not Bettendorf

Today was the local train show - and sadly it was the worst ever. Small, (it moved from the local high school to a small hotel), without many vendors (I wanted some terrain material, and nobody had any!), and the timing was bad - it was the same day as the Hookset show, located across state.

Clearly the timing meant a lot of venders that used to come to ours were, well, across state.

Ghost River Railway

Hello all.

This is my first video of the layout that I am building. I figured that this would be easier than trying to make a track plan at this stage. Just to many other things to do at the moment. Still lots of work to do on all aspects of the layout, but things are moving along. The track plan leaves a lot to be desired, but it's about all I can do in the space I have available. My real world interchange/parent company is Canadian Pacific. Only one small extension to add on and then benchwork will be complete.I hope I don't bore you.

UK Clinchfield Operating Session

Hi Everyone,

March 21st dawned dry and bright thank goodness, the food was gotten out of the freezer and last minute track and wheel cleaning took place, as it was the first session I had hosted there were some "butterflies" .

I used a track schematic diagram on my laptop to assist the DS in his job, I put the unit numbers in little lozenge shaped Icons that could be right clicked and dragged to the appropriate track section when Track Warrants were granted.

The hand held radio's were all fully charged and tested and all was well.

Thursday, April 15, 2010.

What a taxing day this is.

Friday Night on the LVN

Lots of action on the LVN on Friday.  Had 10 operators over.  They were divided into teams of engineers and trainmen.  The two hour operating session saw continuous action and by the looks on the faces of the folks below we all had a good time.

Here you can see Ron, Chris and James operating a NAR SD38-2, two BNSF SD70Macs and a leased CFX SD90 Mac through the classification yard.  Modern operations include hauling coal, grain, mixed freight and intermondal.

Running The Stewarts

I got these Stewart F3's for $30 for the pair, not a bad steal if I do say so myself, both units are powered.

Well We Had Another Sale For The Year

Well! We had another final train sale this year at Dana's RR Supply, I bought more than I sold, naturally, I ended up picking an AB set of phase 4 F3's, Stewart units, with the Kato drive, (a better drive than the china drive from Athearn!), these units run like a Swiss watch, they also look good, however, that purple ACL just don't cut it, they shall be D&RGW units, most likely in the bumble bee scheme, since I have no units in that scheme at the moment, I got the pair for $30.00.

Needing Help

Hello - I am new to this, so if I have picked the wrong spot to ask this question - please advise.

Awhile ago, I found what I believe was called the "5 turnout game". At the time, I got called away and never had a chance to bookmark the site.

If anyone has ever heard of this game, and has a link, please advise.

Thanks

Swing bridges of Marion County....

My layout, in a rather convoluted fashion, describes a big loop. Basically I did this because:

1. I wanted continuous running for when I was showing it off; and

2. I didn't think I had enough room for staging at both ends of the layout... so both ends became the same end.

As a result, I have tracks that jump an aisle. The first version of these involved a major passing siding terminating in a curved switch, at which point the track continued across a rickety (1 layer plywood) side-hinged bridge spanning the aisle.
