Roadbed with Biscuits
Raodbed continues on the 8th Subdivision of the Western Pacific. Most of the single track areas are hardboard spline, but plywood and OSB (oriented strand board) are used for locations with multiple tracks. One problem that always seems to affect such materials is variations in thickness. If you attach sections of plywood using the typical splices from below, you have to deal with such issues using shims, also of varying thicknesses, plus a spliced joint is strongest across the splice itself, not at the top where the track is.

Trouble on the Hudson and Hartford
My exams are all graded and I am ready to turn in the final grades for the Fall, 2010 semster. That's going to happen on Monday. I already have my teaching schedule for the Spring of 2011 so I'll be off until the end of January when college starts again. I am even prepared to finished the building I am currently working on. Then I showed my wife what had done and what I intended to do with it.

Detailing Reading C424s (Pictures Repaired)
Several years ago, my friend Greg (Skiwiggy here) painted these Atlas C424s for me. The Bee Line scheme is a slight fabrication, as only select Reading six axles received it.
Progress on the Hudson and Hartford, as of December 15, 2010
It's Wednesday, December 15, 2010 and its cold here in NYC. Perfect weather for working on the Hudson and Hartford. Unfortunately. I won't get to do anything today because I have final exams to give today and that means I probably won't get home until 7 or 8 PM and then I have to start grading them because I have to hand in grades for the semester on Monday 12/20/20. But that won't stop me from letting you know what I plan to get accomplished between now and New Years.
The December Train Sale
Well here it is again, December, I guess that happens every year, too bad my bosses don't seem to understand that we who have families would like a little time off during the holidays, but alas, at least I have bosses!
The train sale went off very well, when we arrived the parking lot at Dana's RR Supply in Springhill, Florida was already just about packed, we managed to get our tables set up and got our stuff out, but we didn't sell much for the entire day, I did however, spend plenty! The story of my life!
