Milestone - finished benchwork
We hit a milestone on the layout last week. All bench work and basic terrain shaping is done. It's starting to look like something other than a pile of lumber and cardboard webs.
I also had fun making a water-powered grist mill for the layout. Here is an in-progress shot.
Ghost River Dec 2011
A lot has happened on the Ghost River Railway over the past few months. Lots of trees have been made and added to the layout, new industries added at Ghost River, new rolling stock and engines and a new Zephyr DCS51 which has allowed me to break the layout up into two districts.

Alternative Power
It is that time of year again. During the Holiday Season every train we own gets it's share of track time. No matter what the road name, diesel or steam, passenger or freight all of our trains will enjoy some fresh air outside of the box on the rails or on the work bench if need be. Minor repairs and maintenance is expedited and any major repairs will have the shop crew on overtime.
BQR Trackwork Completed
Well, finally got the last blank spaces on the layout occupied. It has been an interesting process with many changes. Gluing track and roadbed is definitely a mixed bag -- makes for nice, solid connections but taking it up is a delicate process at best. I will keep using a thin layer of DAP transparent latex caulk for any long, curved sections but for general trackwork nails are much easier to work with. Now that a bunch of stuff has been changed my original plan for how to handle power districting is in shambles.

I've been working on the club layout, taking lots of pictures but never posting them...sigh!! Anyhow...
This city has been completely unearthed...and rebuilt from the ground up!!
