Minaturisation and animation

I came across this YouTube video of the recent Wadebridge (Cornwall, UK) model railway show.

Right at the end,starting at 6.24 is some animation of a GWR log loader.  It really is minaturisation!  No idea how it is done and there is no information on the layout or builder.  Looks like it is scratch built.

The Great Gathering of Pacifics

Today is the day!  The Great Gathering takes place in the UK National Railway Museum at York. http://www.nrm.org.uk/PlanaVisit/Events/mallard75.aspx

On 3rd July 1938 at a place called Stoke Bank on the East Coast Main Line, the A4 Pacific Mallard, broke the record for a steam engine achieving a speed of 125.88 mph, a record held by the locomotive today.    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_A4_4468_Mallard

Modelling in the Land of Sand - The Givens

Thanks Scarpia,  admonishment accepted - will include pictures in future......  These are my "Givens" which set the scene.

There are a number of givens;

a modular design because I will not be here permanently;

based on a real line in the LNER area (London & North Eastern Railway http://www.lner.info/index.shtml was one of the "Big 4" companies formed in 1923 and becoming part of British Railways in 1947, but its locomotives, coaches, freight vans and buildings still live on in preserved and active use);

Modelling in the Land of Sand

I suppose I should start with an introduction?  I started with trains more years ago than I care to remember, when around age 5 I received an 0 Gauge Hornby clockwork tank engine.  A couple of years later this became a Hornby 00 gauge 3 rail layout, then a 2 rail, until I had around age 15, a roster of around a dozen locomotives, all UK outline.
