Good Idea? BAd Idea?

SO as mentioned on a past post I have/will receive a free Dynatrol System. Will it be a good Idea to just wire the receiver directly to the track as to just have use of the tethered control. I have heard a short could destroy the receiver so would a bulb or something similar between it and the track work? I look forward to what yyou can say and until next time of good idea bad idea, Keegan is out.

Has anyone used Dynatrol?

This is much older primitive control but I have received a system free of charge for use on my switching layout. How well is this system and would you recommend it. I am planning on installing the reciever in an older Kato SW2 (photo attached) but not sure how to fit it as the metal frame is tight and not sure if I could get it in the cab. Any help is appreciated.

I have two locomotives that I need to speedmatch, one is a MTH F-something or other. The Second is a Bachmann GP-7 (or something simillar) What is the best way to do this and how? I want to set up a doubleheader on the club layout and any suggestions are appreciated.
