Last weekend in Raleigh, NC - Lots of short videos to share

Good evening all,Last weekend, I was able to bring modules to set up with the Sipping and Switching Society of North Carolina in Raleigh, NC. Following the state established safety protocols, a large ( 132' x 142' ) layout was unloaded, assembled, and declared operational in 6 hours. (edit - move large graphic to new post)

Respectfully,

Tim Moran Akron, OH

Bachmann Plus GP35 locomotive

Hi There

I have a question which may seem slightly silly to some.

Here’s the background...
My husband has Bachmann Plus GP35 locomotive that has NEVER worked (right out of the box). He bought it for his Dad (a railroader) who loved it and didn’t care if it ran.

My husband would love to see it run, but if he sends it in to Bachman, he may not get the same locomotive back.

If I were to buy another GP35 locomotive that works, could I just put the PRR shell on the working locomotive?

Thank You Geoff Bunza

Thank you Geoff Bunza.

I have been reading some of your Blog posts. I am currently using DCC++ and wish to automate my turnouts (52) and turntables (2).

I looked through your blog and have flagged 12 of your 35 projects. Over the next few months, I will be studying those 12 with an eye to using them on my own layout.

Thank you sir, for sharing all your hard work, it is much appreciated bu this rookie Model Rail Automator.

Model Railroader tech issues and customer service?

I am curious to hear if others have had issues with Model Railroader or Kalmbach, generally, in terms of the quality of their digital functionalities and their customer service.

Middle School Model Railroad: a kink

I noticed an ugly curve in my trackwork the other day and made a mental note to improve it at some point. I was surprised that I would have put it in that way, but my memory isn’t very good and perhaps I was rushing it.

Then yesterday I was looking for a photo to illustrate student activity on the model railroad and happened across one that I took last year, indicating that the track originally had a more reasonable curve that had apparently moved considerably.

Happy Thanksgiving

to all you Canadian model railroaders here and abroad.
