FOS Dept of Docks

Almost done with this one...

Dept of Docks--How was the build?

Lou N,

Your FOS Dept of Docks looks very good. How did you find the build? Any rough spots?  I've been considering purchasing that kit.

FOS Dept of Docks

George,

No major issues with the FOS kit. I decided to use 320 sandpaper cut into strips for the roof rather than the kit supplied paper. I couldn't get a roof cap that I liked, so I'm using glue painted black to simulate tar on the seams. I used the hairspray technique on the clock tower to get the copper patina and that seemed to turn out well. I still need to build the dock and weather the model, but it was an enjoyable build so far.

Some tank cars

I am presently working on six Tichy Train Group tank cars.

While some other cars are waiting for the painting season to begin.

Papillon, Is that a CNR wood

Papillon, Is that a CNR wood caboose at the far left? If so, is it a kit?

And what paint scheme will you be using on your tank cars?

I find no one makes a CNR RTR wood caboose with good windows - TLT make them with the wrong size, and the ones on brass models tend to be slightly crude and askew.

Yes. This is a Sylvan Scale

Deemiorgos,

Yes. This is a Sylvan Scale CNR Wood Caboose. Here is a better photo.

Regarding the tank cars, I am planning to finish them black with those markings: CGTX (3), GATX (2), BAOX (1)
