UK Clinchfield Operating Session

Hi Everyone,

March 21st dawned dry and bright thank goodness, the food was gotten out of the freezer and last minute track and wheel cleaning took place, as it was the first session I had hosted there were some "butterflies" .

I used a track schematic diagram on my laptop to assist the DS in his job, I put the unit numbers in little lozenge shaped Icons that could be right clicked and dragged to the appropriate track section when Track Warrants were granted.

The hand held radio's were all fully charged and tested and all was well.

Clinchfield Progress

Hi,

It's been a while since I last added to my blog, but I have made a little progress, the backscene on the top level of the layout is complete along one side, and I've dropped down one level to start on the next level down. The scenic work you can see from the pictures I've posted, what has also started since last time is that I have started an operating group to run the railroad. Operating Groups are rare in the UK so I decided to start my own, all being well our first meet will take place at the end of March, and I'll add details in my next blog.

Start of backdrop

Hi everyone,

A start has been made in painting the backdrop, the walss and part of the ceiling were painted a "Skye Blue" which gave a pretty good approximation to the real thing.

I've taken tips from Joe's DVD's (thanks) and also MR's "Painting a backdrop by Mike Danneman" for once I brought the book and won the dvd's BEFORE I started on the job in hand.

The backdrop is complete halfway around my shed and partially textured too, it awaits the foreground trees and foliage.

Best wishes

Drawings of my layout

Hi,

For those of you that were curious I have very quickly drawn the plan of the three levels of my Clinchfield themed layout.

My apologies for the drawings but as I said they were drawn very quickly

Clinchfield in the UK

Hi,

I just finished the tracklaying on my Clinchfield themed layout in my 8ft x 12ft garden shed, The layout doesn't faithfully follow a particular part of the Clinchfield but does it's best to show what the Clinchfield was
