Hi,

I just finished the tracklaying on my Clinchfield themed layout in my 8ft x 12ft garden shed, The layout doesn't faithfully follow a particular part of the Clinchfield but does it's best to show what the Clinchfield was

I like the coal extra shot

That's a nice photograph. I'm wondering how easy it is to see things on the lower levels, like in the second photo. At the camera angle you lose a lot of the mine, for instance. Is this an issue with other spots on the railroad?

What Scale ???

Hi Pete, What scale are you modeling??? Seems like you have alot of railroad in a small space. My space is roughly the same size as yours. So I am very curious to see your track plan and how you pull it off.

Yard Ballast

Hi Pete-

Nice pictures.  I really enjoyed what you posted.  I was curious to find out what you used to ballast your yard in the 3rd picture you posted.  I'm looking to create a similar look for my yard (here are two different shots of my prototype inspiration).  Assuming you are in HO SCale (which it looks like you are) I'd love to know if it's something commerically available.

Great shots, please keep them coming!

Deck spacing

Hi Dave,

To be honest there is not as much room between decks as I would have liked, I am able to operate and with the lighting in the Lerigo area being brighter it's much easier.

That mine tucked into the corner is the Moss prep plant and there are two spurs that serve it, and really that is the tightest spot on the layout.

What scale?

Hi

The layout is in HO and if I did it again I would have probably used a Helix in one corner at some of the grades make Saluda look gentle. Again the space I had available meant that a helix on a radius of say, 24" would have taken a lot of space, so an open helix(with me in the middle)seemed to be the best way out.

I am drawing a track plan and as soon as I can I'll post it here

Best wishes

Pete

Yard ballast

Hi Rich,

I used Woodland scenics "Cinders" for the yard at Lerigo, I fixed them in position with dilute wood glue, over here in the UK we call it Evostick Resin W, but I believe that it is the same as Elmers in the USA and I add a couple of drops of washing up liquid to breakup the surface tension.

Best wishes
