DD9C-2 Transfer locomotives #6100

I have always wanted a transfer locomotive to work between my steel mills and foundries, but the only one I know of was a model of the brass Baldwin DT-6-6-2000. Only time I have found those those was high dollar locomotives so I set out on designing and building my own.

I stated by looking for a mechanism and frame. I wanted to use a good running engine that ran great at low speeds. I ran across a Kato SD40-2 that had electrical problems but for the price I pick it up. Once I found the issue and fixed it I had my base for the transfer locomotive.

Mobile Hot Metal Mixing car

I have always wanted to build a dual track mobile hot metal mixing car ever since I seen pictures of the model that Peachcreek shops has. I was also able to find patent plans for this car online. It may not follow the plans 100% but I built it for the area I have for the car. I'm waiting on a break in the weather to paint the car.

Quinching car

#d Printed quenching car that is available on Shapeways. I really like this little locomotive and with just a little detailing it make a good looking static model.

Material transfer cars.

I been wanting to build a couple of these cars since I seen the car Dean Freytag built. These was build from 2 ore cars with one end cut off and a new frame and body built for the cars. These was build for 3 axle trucks and at the time of the picture I was putting on the last details of the cars before sending them back to the paint shop.

Dynamometer car

I have heard about dynamometer cars but really didn't pay much attention to them or what they was used for until a search on the internet. After a few minutes of looking at different types and and how people modeled them. I thought I would try my hand at building one.
