Givens and Druthers
For nostalgic reasons alone, I wanted to model the Newtown Square and Cardington branches of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the transition period from 1945 to 1955. Notwithstanding the need to selectively compress for the space I have available, a true model of the branch would not satisfy the degree of social interaction I was looking for in a model railroad.
The train show at The Villages
Today I went to the train show at The Villages. I was in the market for a couple of sound decoders and I knew that MRH sponsor Yankee Dabbler was going to be there. They gave me a great deal on the decoders and some #148 Kadee couplers. I got one of their guys to take a picture - notice my MRH t-shirt! I had a great time and got some good stuff (also a L&N boxcar kit).
Cornhill & Atherton - The town of Atherton
Well it's February and I haven't done anything significant on the layout for a couple of months now, so it's time to get busy again.
The next project is Atherton. This is by far the biggest section so far and will also complete the top deck.
First - a distant view of the somewhat scary, but equally exciting gap that needs filling. This shot taken from Atherton engine terminal with the overhead layout lights deliberately switched off to emphasize the target area:
A Look At How Far I've Come
Well I've been a member here now for exactly 2 years and 2 weeks (wow time flies!) and thought I'd take a look at how far I've really come. Just one year prior even I had no idea what DCC was and let alone how to build a kit. Now looking at things I have done and learned this list of things:
- Building a Laser Cut Wood Kit
- Building a Basic Kit
- Building a Tichy Kit
- Laying Scenery
- Ballasting Track
- Laying Sectional Track
- Laying Flex Track (As of 2/3)
CY&P RR - More Under-Table Finds
I'm making a lot of progress in my big change of direction:
http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/24650
I have previously noted in my Under Table archeology post: http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/24998 of finding a long lost and forgotten Ten Wheeler from my earliest days in HO railroading. Thanks to "ogremtb" for identifying it as an Aristo-Craft model.
Colorado Front Range January update Locomotive Servicing Terminal and cove corner and backbrops
Finally got some time to get caught up and get this video done and up loaded. I hope you enjoy the update

Rounding a corner on the BNML... the beginning of backdrops!
I'm beginning to work on the backdrops on my BNML. In this blog post I will share how I create the first of many curved corners on the layout.
I'll be starting on the Morris - St Jean curve. This is the long sweeping curve in the North East corner of my layout.
The Morris - St Jean curve is marked with a red arrow on the plan below.
