SD38-2, Southern Pacific Summer Project
I have sharing my idea for a summer modeling project on various forums and user groups. I thought I would capture what I have been sharing and what others have been sharing with me so far.
Any insights or advice would be appreciated. . .

Car Floats on my mind
No, I am not thinking of that old Glen Campbell song from the 1970s.
Today I finally got the spare cash to order the wood for what will become the carfloats for the Hudson and Hartford. I ordered them from Micro Mark so you can tell them one of your readers bought something from them.

Adventures in Dirt Texturing and Tree Building
With the coming of spring my basement has once again become a hospitable habitat suitable for the migration of Model Railroaders. Once the wife goes back to work, I expect to have more time to myself to spend working on my layout. I figured it was time to fire up the Journal again..
Progress on "Chainsaw II"
With testing on the benchwork, roadbed, Fast Track turnouts and hand layed track behind me, it's now time to begin putting some of this into practice. As I've noted in other posts, I've already made a Code 83 No. 6 crossover and now all of my Code 83's, which leaves me with 2 left, 4 right, and a crossover in Code 70 (No. 5), and one left Code 70. No. 6.for the yard area.
I had originally planned on just No. 5 turnouts; but as I got a No. 6 jig on eBay, I've converted the mainline turnouts to 6's (not reflected on these plans.)
The holidays are over...
The holidays are over and so is tax season so it's time to get off my bottom and start working on my layout. But first there are some things that have to be moved off of it.

The
Hudson and Hartford update II
It's April and it's the spring holiday season. Of course it's starting out as a rainy holiday season and that is never fun. Of course going out doors isn't exactly fun when it rains but I'd rather have rain than snow.
Let there Be Light!
I’ve spent a good portion of my evenings & weekends the past couple of weeks finalizing the installation of lighting on my layout as well as sorting out some really frustrating wiring issues (but more on the latter in another post). I recently upgraded the lighting in my basement as even though I have two outside exposed walls my basement is….well, a basement! The previous owner had some overhead lights installed that provided decent light for a playroom or workout area but better lighting was needed if I was going to use this space for my layo
I want to start a San Diego Free-mo group
I want to start a free-mo group here in San Diego county. It's hard to find folks who would like to participate.
I guess I'll post my request to the discussion forum. . .
