What is it with international postage rates?

I recently sent a parcel from the UK weighing 4 kilos (9 pounds) to a friend in the USA for $32.00. It went by UPS and got there in 2 days. This week, I bought three kits and a scale lorry from GCLaser and the shipping was $22.50, which I didn't think was that bad.

I have just checked on the JL Innovative site for a small kit "East Junction Yard Office" and the postage is $10.00!

Train Sim World beta train simulator from DoveTail games

I was wandering around in youtube land and found a review of the beta version of a new train simulator from DoveTail games... Yikes!

The interaction level and graphics look to be a whole lot better than anything I've seen so far.

Here's Something You Don't See Every Day

A steam railmotor. The Great Western Railway (aka God's Wonderful Railway) in the UK built about 100 of these in the early part of the 20th Century: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDxGfKWRm8M

Apparently, it's going to be offered in model form. http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/144/GWR-Steam-Railmotor

Weekly Photo Fun - December 9th to December 15th, 2016

It's that time again for a new weekly thread!

As always, modeling under construction is welcome as well ...

Car over weighting article

Sometime ago there were some threads on over weighting rolling stock.  Various people weighed in with their experiences. smiley  At the time there was mention of article for MRH that would provide a more scientific investigation.  I don't recall (and can't find in the index) such an article.  Is this still something that's going to happen?

Does anyone know of another manufacturer for ready to run HON30 besides Blackstone?  Blackstone has beautiful equipment but is very expensive, at least for me it is.
