Modeling general discussion

over seas visitor in France
Attention all folks in France. One of our club members is in France visiting friends he made while over seas with the military. He would like to see model trains and visit with some model railroad folks while there. If any of you folks from the other side of the Atlantic would like to have a visit from Bob let me know and I will contact him. He is interested in seeing some layouts while there and will be over there for a considerable time. If you have a club or a modular club that is setting something up or doing a show he would likely be interested in seeing that as well.
Bowser Announces New RS-3
Any of you see this yet?
Bowser has announced a new RS-3 in many variations. Why another RS-3 seems a valid question, but nevertheless, some of the variations look quite interesting. Might be a "close enough" version for a Mop in the blue n' gray. Hmmmm.
IF it runs/sounds as good as the Bowser Baldwin switcher series, it will perform and sound excellent.
Here's a link to Bowser web page that illustrates what is supposedly on the way from them.

Your personal experiences with Bachmann HO E-Z track?
I'd like to hear about personal experiences with Bachmann HO nickel-silver E-Z track (not the steel-rail train set variety). From what I see in the SCARM freeware track library, the Bachmann system has an extensive assortment of different track configurations suitable for building fairly complex layouts with no "custom cutting". I've designed a variety of SCARM track plans using the Bachmann track - all on computer, not actual construction.

OPS Video
I've been getting ready for another OPS session soon and ran lots of trains to make sure all the snags have been rectified. Took advantage of this to make some video.

Air brush recommendations
Okay guys, suggestions needed. The wife says what do you want for Christmas? I was racking my brain because there really isn't anything I am needing. Then it occurred to me, an airbrush. I have always wanted to try weathering using an airbrush. So.......what do you guys use? I don't need anything fancy. Just something I can do some basic weathering on cars, structures and track. trying to keep it under 100 bucks including the compressor.
Weekly Photo Fun - November 11th to November 17th, 2016
Awesome work everyone last week! Time to start this week's photo thread!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

feeder wires
When wiring your bus wires and feeder wires, I'm using # 14 for the bus and # 18 single strand copper wire for my feeders. Do you think that #18 is a good size or should I go #16. I heard that #18 may create too much resistance because it's small, true but still it's a copper wire which is a good conductor in itself and the feeders are short. I use suitcase connectors to connect the feeders to the bus.
What do you think ?

Weathering: Acrylic vs. oil paint, and water-mixable oil paint.
[UPDATED:]
I'm about to do some extreme weathering on my N-scale Railbox cars. For weathering, someone suggested oil-based paints rather than acrylics. But there are two kinds of oil-based paints: Traditional, and a new water-mixable oil-based paint. [Note: I ended up purchasing all-traditional oils since the water-mixable oils are about twice the price of regular oils.]
Gaugemaster Ballested Underlay
A quick post to see if anyone has used GaugeMaster Ballasted Underlay. For further information about this product, here is a Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYm-LwKtYPk .
I am interested to know how well this attaches to foam roadbed.
Thanks and happy modeling.
