Lynden Lions Club Model Train Show
My mother emailed this Washington State newspaper excerpt to me and I wondered if anyone had heard of this or attended.
Biking the Rails - so cool!
While on a vacation last month, we tried 'biking' a railroad right-of-way, with bikes that runs on the rails. It was really fun, and a great way to experience the right-of-way and terrain. Move details & photos on my blog:

Flatbed Truck Enhancement
Here is a nice small project that I did last Sunday after noon. A flatbed truck from classic Metalworks looked pretty plain. I gave it a canvas covered top.
I used .012 music wire that I fashioned into hoops. I spaced five of these hoops along the bed. Scale 2 X 6" lumber was also used along the flatbed. For the canvas, I use a single ply of facial tissue. Man, that stuff is really thin!
Warflight's Kaffee Klatsch
So today, I stopped by Reed's Hobby's in La Mesa... the last Model Train shop in San Diego... I've spoken of the shop before... how much I love it... and outside of the shop is a big "For Sale" sign.
It would appear the owner is selling the shop, and the building. They said they have gotten a lot of interest in the building, but none in the shop.
The shop turns a profit, according to the employees (and this is WITHOUT doing any online sells) but the owner wants to retire.
Benchtime Podcast #39
I am an avid listener of this podcast and was happy to participate.
The banchtime podcast is an audio-only program that focuses on building models. I liken it to the original Scotty Mason show. Anyways I am pretty happy how it turned out so check it out, please.

There's always something fun to do.
I think one of the things I love about this hobby... especially the way i chose to enjoy this hobby, is that there is always something to do.
Take this month for instance.
This month, I'm getting hit with some unexpected bills... plus my keyboard and mouse need to be replaced... and on top of that, my roommate is $300 short on rent, so I have to make that up 9and it might be a month or two before he can get me back)
So I don't have any money to spend on trains this month.
National Garden Railway Convention & National Narrow Gauge Convention
I’ve been lamenting not getting to the NTS this year so planning ahead for next year. The NGRC 2019 are August 27 - 31 in Portland and the NNGC Sept 4-7 in Sacramento so Amtrak between the two cities is planned.
I realize that this is over a year away but hope to meet other modelers while on the west coast. A trip to the the San Juan Islands may happen either before or after these events to see family so let me know if there are people, or places to see along the way. Road trip!
