Railfanning Tabooma County

I had a chance to visit Al Carter and his beautiful home in my hometown. He has a dedicated bonus room upstairs for his Tabooma County Railroad where structures and scale vehicles are the star characters. The layout is in a decent size room of about 12’ x 20’, clearly designed for operation and has a lot going on. The photos tell the rest of the story!

Trains and Tariffs

It would seem that scale modelers have been given a reprieve from the trade war.  An email I received from Broadway Limited told of their MSRPs being rolled back to pre-July status, when barely a week ago they had jacked those same prices to cover the "Last 10% tariff" announced earlier.

We live in fun times.  I'm watching my retirement accounts going straight into the crapper, courtesy of CNBC's barking heads coverage...

I'm still alive, LOL!!

Hey everybody, link to my latest video showing the temporary workbench setup I've got for the next couple months while we look for a house. Just finished taking one of my old Blue Box units and adding truck lights, illuminated number boards, marker lights, and the headlight. I'll have a couple photos up soon and then a workbench update in a couple weeks once I get enough stuff done. Anyways, thanks for watching as always, and link below.

Mailing Packages

Folks,

It is my understanding that both "stamps.com" and "usps.com" have on line services where you can establish an account, then print out mailing/shipping labels and also appropriate postage (stamps).  I guess I said that right - I've never done this before.

The whole idea of doing this at home and giving the outgoing package to our letter carrier is a lot more appealing than going to the post office and standing in line....

Is Oregon Rail Supply still in business?

Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me if Oregon Rail Supply is still in business? Site hasn't been updated in a long time. I did call and the message stated it was indeed the company and I emailed as well. If anyone has some definitive information, I would like to know.

Thank you all to those who reply!

Neal

Think about the times it would have taken to load old style boxcars with this amount of freight  !!

2019 St. Louis RPM

The thirteenth St. Louis Railroad Prototype Modelers meet kicked off July 26th in Collinsville, IL. I was there with a few hundred modelers when the doors opened. Tables filled quickly with a variety of models.

Saturn / NASA Rocket Program and our trains

Just yesterday I was reminded of the current extortionary news coverage of the history of our space program. I've been watching it also.

There was a time when I considered the links that might be made between that space program and our model railroads.
