New to me, the MRH podcast

I know it's been around for a while, but until I was interviewed (a little shameless self promotion there cheeky) I had never taken any interest in the MRH podcast on iTunes.  I downloaded iTunes, downloaded the podcast, and I have to say, I'm impressed!  Paul does a great job interviewing and editing, and it's something I'll be enjoying in the future.  If you haven't checked it out, by a

A long shot, looking for a CogG E7

I know this is a long shot, but it's worth a try.

Sad day

Our local train club sent out a notice that Keith Edwards, co-founder of Kadee, has passed away.  He was very active locally and helped set up the Medford Oregon railroad park. Even though he was retied, he will be missed.

See www.kadee.com for the formal announcement.

Need info on coal tipples.....scratch building plans etc.

And yes I've googled!  I've been able to find pictures of coal mine tipples, prototype and models, but not really much in the way of plans or articles.  Anyone know any online sources for HO scale plans of coal tipples? Anybody make any downloadable card stock models of them? I know that tipples are pretty unique and have a lot of variation so there is probably  no wrong way to model them but any sort of "been there done that" advice that could be found elsewhere or given here would be helpful.

Need clarification on the EBT/PRR Coal Cleaning Plt at Mt. Union, PA

I suppose I am being influenced by the only EBT layout I ever have known, being Doug Taylor's EBT, and that even though great effort was made to portray the EBT as best as possible, compromises were needed so what I saw on his layout may not have been how it was.  From what I can tell from an ariel photo from the website pennpilot.com, the coal cleaning plant was a stand alone structure that was not built along a mountainside.  Am I looking at the photo correctly, or is what i'm looking at not the Coal Cleaning Plant.

Thanks.

Question for Joe F.

Using your "poor-man's jig" using CV turnouts, I ran into a problem, and it's due to laziness on my part.  I broke one of my PC throwbars so that I don't really have enough to attach a wire for my Wolfgang-method operable switchstand.

Industry Update from CMT

Hello Alan

I would like to give you an update on the state of the model train industry.

Industry Update

The hobby is in a manufacturing turmoil, due to a lack of production capacity now.

There is no question; you have seen the delays from virtually all manufacturers. Pick any manufacturer’s name and their products are delayed. Why you ask? There are several reasons.

Ever finished?

My true love in model railroading is realistic scenery.  I've been into my layout for 5-6 years, and no matter how close I think I am to starting scenery I never get there.  There's always a problem turnout, a bad section of track, or maybe time/humidity/temperature revealing some other problem that needs fixed first.  Most times just plain ol' burnout sets in, and I do a structure.  I successfully installed a tsunami decoder into my Doodlebug. I even built my static grass applicator about a year ago but have only done tests w

Lighting

Alright, how exactly do people manage to get so many flourescent light fixtures so closely spaced on a ceiling or under the valence and wire so many safely?

Lighting choices are holding up my design and progress, as I cannot figure out how to better illuminate my layout space safely. I have a finished basement with 4 recessed ceiling fixtures. One is a spot on a fireplace, but the other 3 just don't cut it for lighting a layout space, even for construction.
