LED Strip Lighting - how far out from backdrop?
Hi all,
I'm in the process of installing the layout lighting for my BVLC layout. I'm planning to use 'warm white' LED strips, which are self-adhesive on one side, and run them along a valence at the top of the layout. The valence itself will be made out of plastic, and will be supported off the backdrop by thick wires - the same type of wire used in those indoor clothes drying racks. This is needed, as the layout has to be free-standing (my house is a rental).
Weekly Photo Fun - July 31st to August 6th, 2015
Great work everyone last week! Time to start of this week's photo thread!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Railhead custom painting
Does anyone have in-person, real world knowledge of Railhead custom painting, or its owner, John Miller? http://railheadcustompainting.com/index.html A few of us, from various other forums, have had to form a loose support group, due to our long-term loss of contact with Mr.

Layout room space - it's all relative!
I find it amusing that two modelers (me, and Michael Rose) are facing the same problems with space even though we have vastly different spaces available. My layout room is 120 square feet and Michael's is (I think) is about 1,400 square feet!

Decisions, decisions... UPDATED!
I'm writing this because it helps me ( so I'm hoping) and I'd like to get some other opinions on this matter.
Building plan eBook size
I am wondering how large the 2 structure ebooks PDF files are. I currently have no house internet and I use my phone for web access. I would like to take advantage of the special price for both ebooks but need to make sure I can download to my phone so I can then transfer them to my computer. Any help in this is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
NMRA Contests?
So it had previously been suggested to myself that I enter some of my photos into the photo contests at an NMRA convention. It happens that I'll be going to the Mid-East Region convention in October with the Free-mo layout there. My question is this? Are NMRA contests as rooted in the steam age as the photo contest rules appear to be? For example the three categories for photos are steam, non-steam and model. And I noticed and Arts & Crafts entries too. All my photographs are of diesels or electrics. My models too aren't steam.

Some fun with models and photogtaphy
This pretty darn neat!

Although using 1/24th scale models, the techniques and results are remarkable.

Gateway Central XV HO Scale Switching Model Railroad
I just ran across this looking around on the net:

Wow! What potential this has! It could easily be lengthened or made part of an existing layout. The possibility of detailing is endless. Operation would be challenging and fun.
