solvaset waiting time

how long should I wait to start weathering after i applied decals using solvaset?

Memeber who displays weathered rolling stock on a spectacular diorama, set in the mountains, and usually a winter scene.

Could someone please direct me to member in here that occasionally post in the weekly photos, and uses a spectacular diorama scene, usually a winter scene, and features his superbly weathered rolling stock?

I'd like to contact him.

Thanks!

Mike.

Building a Layout When You're Renting

Hello all!

As I do a little pencil chewing on my next model railroad (military career, new duty station means a new home and a new layout), I thought I'd get a few thoughts from y'all on building a layout in a rented space, either house, condo, or apartment.  I'm particularly drawn to shelf-style layouts, as opposed to island-style.  Any perspective on challenges or design tips?

Search for decal

I haven't been able to find a small white tilted HO scale leaf for my CNR wood caboose like this:

For some reason Microscale's is oversized and so is S. Arthur's.

For now I'm using this C-D-S dry transfer, which is the right size, but it doesn't have the leaf's veins, as seen above in the B&W photo. So for now, I'll only use it as a stand-in and won't seal it.

Weekly Photo Fun 1/14/18-1/20/18

Another week another Weekly Photo Fun!

Please share your work finished or not!

Are Tru Color/ScaleCoat/Testors paints compatible with each other?

Question about paint compatibility as I try to find correct color matches for a 1935 Milwaukee Road Hiawatha Atlantic and 5 car set in our post Floquil/Pollyscale world.  My resources are from 1984 and 1992 and list paints that are no longer manufactured.

Asking advice and then...

I know I probably shouldn’t post this, because it’s prone to be taken the wrong way,but alas...

Why do SOME posters ask advice on a matter or method or product, and then when the replies begin to be posted, tend to rebut almost every reply? I’ve even noticed SOME will continue to take the opposite side of the advice asked for even when it is overwhelmingly in agreement. If you have already made a decision or don’t really need the asked for advice, why debate the answers you asked for in the first place? *rolls eyes*

What is your favorite oddball tool?

As I have admitted on other threads, I am a tooloholic.

The micro-Mark catalog makes me salivate, and after visiting the Jensen Tool site I have to breathe into a paper bag.
