Virginia Southwestern Railroad N&W Buchanan Branch
Many of you all have seen my videos on my blog. You can see photos of the layout and motive power on one of my Facebook groups. My layout is featured on the Clinchfield Railroad or the Virginia Southwestern Railroad groups on Facebook. Search for them and request to joinus.

Spiral Hill Hopper makes it to the Midwest on the S scale Great Plains Northern
A few weeks ago, a coal hopper lettered for the Spiral Hill railroad was spotted on Roy Hoffman's S scale Pennsylvania based layout. Seems as though the hopper has made it South of the Chicago area to the coal fields in Illinois. Here it is in a Milwaukee Road yard.
A week later it's empty and being moved via the Chicago Northwestern Road near Aberdeen, South Dakota. Photo #2
Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad Visit 1-23-13
I had some vacation to use by the end of January or I would lose it. What to do with that free time? I was anxious to see what progress Michael Rose has made on his Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad and since I now live in Florida I arranged a visit. This was my third visit to see Michael and as before I had a great time - not just seeing the railroad, but talking to Michael. You see, Michael is a very interesting guy who has been a model railroader in various parts of the world.
Action at Falls Tower
After months and months and months of doing nothing...some train ran. Check out the action at Falls Tower.
Falls Tower guards the junction between Penn Lake's Bourbon River and Mountain Subs, and the Delaware and Hudson's Penn Division. The Tower also controls operation into and out of the North Falls Industrial Track and R Nicholas Steel plant.
The Missabe Road
Here starts a recap of the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway, known by Railroaders as The Missabe, as it exists in my basement.
18" Gage Layout
This is My Buddy's 18" gage, 12" to the 1', Mine layout. It is located in Norther Nevada, on a 40 acre ranch. As you can see it's a point to point layout. Main line is about 40' long. No timetable. Full one way, empty the other. All equipment is operational.
Beginning the R&SW Spur
This blog is designed to keep track of construction of my layout modeling the IC&E Rockford Sub in HO scale. The specific modeling areas include West Yard in South Beloit, Illinois and the line east of Beloit Junction, Wisconsin (the former Milwaukee Road "Racine and Southwestern" line). The focal point of the layout will be the switching operations at the Frito-Lay plant in Beloit, Wisconsin during the late 2000's and into the present day.
NW 86th Street - First Pass
The first scenic pass for the town of Clive on my IAIS Grimes Line layout is complete. The area features the NW 86th/Swanson Blvd intersection plus the Swanson Depot Retail Center, the PDM/CB&I spur and the Clive greenbelt. It's a space about 12 feet in length, and is the first thing people see when entering the layout room.
For those of you modeling Arizona railroads
In a couple of his videos he has the title Peavine. This is a nice looking layout for N scale.
Pics of Layout (In Progress)
Here are some picturess of my layout. Your comments are welcomed, but understand that I am not a purist nor a rivet counter. Nonetheless, I was wondering do others use "manual dispatching" relative to switches and signals on a DCC system like I do? My switches are 2 pole 6 ways that let me select which aspect I need. Secondly, my ballast looks much better in person than in the pictures. It is a cheap and neat way to do it, with paint. Also as you will notice I am much farther along on the area that has trees and grass. Pics to follow. Kyle
