Diesel Fueling and Sanding Facility (on a Mainline Track or otherwise)

Is it possible to have a diesel fueling and sanding facility located on a mainline track? I'm thinking of a two track facility where at least one of the tracks would be a main line track, and the 'inner track' would be a freight yard track? Maybe something like this type of facility,..

Track Plan Adjustments

I've made a few adjustments to the track arrangement on my model railroad First, I've removed the second engine servicing track to allow the scene to breathe some more. The removal of this track allows me to include an engine shed while leaving plenty of room for additional trackside details that would have been difficult to squeeze in before.

Additionally, I removed a short storage track on the opposite end of Sandpoint yard as it was too short to spot more than a single car and was all but useless on my layout.

Adding keep alive

Has any one found the negative connection point on a Bachmann HO DCC equipped 70 ton diesel original board for adding a keep alive.. thanks

BNSF Fort Benton Subdivision

Hello and welcome to my first blog post!  Since tearing down my MRL themed layout several months ago, I have have been playing around with a couple designs in AnyRail, and this is one of my possible future layouts(See attachments).  The BNSF Fort Benton Subdivision is a small 50 mile (approximate) branchline that runs from Great Falls, MT to Fort Benton, MT.  Up until the 1970's the line ran from Great Falls to Havre.  However, do to unstable soils along the Missouri River, the tracks were pulled up just outside of Fort Benton.  Nowadays, the line no longer

Re-Installed & Updated Fascia Panels...

Finished off upgrading all the fascia panels tonight.  They now all represent both the track work & signals as they are on the layout.

Which resistor?

Any suggestions as to which resistor I should use for Miniatronics 1.2mm Micro Mini-Lamp 1.5V for use on a Digitrax DH165A0 decoder.

Thanks in advance

On18 Micro mine Layout...many lessons learned and many personal firsts

Sometimes it is good to step a bit out of your comfort zone, sometimes you dive right in head first. I joined a gaming group as I was enticed by their monthly friendly competitions to build terrain. This is more for miniatures and war gaming, but scenery is scenery.

Installing missing ties...

Moving right along, last night I began the task of installing the missing ties from the track work.

It's a little tedious, but it moves along pretty quickly.  It also means that once completed I can begin painting the track.

Side Dump Waste Cars

You might have seen these side dump waste cars working tramp work around any line, at Bingham Canyon mine they were part of the main roster, 1961 they had 258 in service. The stripping ratio. was 3 to 1 moving waste rock to get to the ore. Some of the pictures are from the Larry Sax collection found at utahrail.net.
