The value of JMRI

These are a handful of posts regarding JMRI; in fact, one in response to my post on dynamically setting CVs for accel/decel based on loco location.

Relevant stats: I have a Digitrax Radio Empire Builder DCC system, an ever-growing collection of Tsunami decoders, and a reasonably new dedicated RR PC.

Derailing @ turnouts

I started a new DCC Steam layout. two questions
1. What is a good height to view and work on a layout?

2. I am having trouble with larger steam 4-8-4 derailing when going though the Atlas turnouts,(noisy & jerky) any ideas?

Cork roadbed from Midwest not available at LHS

I went to My local Hobby Shop to buy some HO scale cork roadbed but they were out so I asked them to order some for me and was told that they couldn't get any as Midwest had stopped production of it. They couldn't say when or if they would start production again.. Anybody else having trouble getting cork roadbed?

Jack Mall Potato Co.

To All: One of the few industries not in the E. St. Louis area, but one I had to include is Jack Mall Potato Co. I measured this building in McBain, Michigan and scratch built it to scale. At one time Michigan was a major producer of potatoes and the Ann Arbor RR had a siding to this company. For a short time I sold it as a craftsman kit under my Layout Concepts  company name. Here are three views of Jack Mall Potato Co..

rti Railflyer Technologies Inc. / Traction Motor Based Drive MCU Non-Sound

Guys,

Attached is the specifications for our new motor control PCB.

It enables precision control of our traction motor based drive system, works on DC/DCC and Zigbee, has Li-PO battery integration and a prototypical LED based lighting system.

This MCU will be standard in our non-sound locomotive kits.

The fabrication of the boards for the second half the system is starting this week.  The first half is in assembly.  Programming will commence immediately.

May/June for the product release.

Walthers modern fire escape and none Walthers buildings

I have the Walthers modern fire escape to be added to a DMP module building. The instructions say "on non-modular structures you may need to adjust the height."

I am guessing "the height" is the distance between windows vertically which will effect the length of the stair way.

Am I thinking correctly? Did you have a problem spacing from the top story to the ones below?

Thanks in advance,
