Not exactly a model, but...

Like every summer for the last 8 years, my modeling slows down as all my weekends are devoted to slightly larger trains.

A sheep is a sheep. Unless it's a goat.

Here we have Preiser sheep. Or the one in the center is a nearly stock Preiser sheep. I did file off the flash along his back and the remains of the sprue. That's the white circular area on his middle. The ones to the right and left I've painted and gave a wash of india ink. The one to the far left represents a goat. I modeled these after the ones in this picture. Pardon the fence, couldn't be helped.

Rebuilding the MANTUA LOCOMOTIVES of old vintage

I rebuild old  (1940's to 1970( Mantua steam locomotives ( 040, 060 , 262 etc) :

Anyone with ideas about :

1. Motors that give realistic low speed performance-lots out there but would love your actual performance  evaluations.

2. Adding DCC to the engine

3. Anybody but NWSL with good gearboxes to get rid of the old straight worm drives?

4. Photos of what extra piping etc to add - there are some on Dan's e=website- any other ideas?

5. Any ideas on cab forward designs?

Electrical couplers for Multiple Unit Cars?

I would like to be able to electrically connect my MU cars together so that the whole train  picks up power.

My MU cars consist of mostly Imperial Hobby Productions Arrow IIIs and Arrow IIs,  with some silverliners.

Space on the bottom of the MU is limited, and i don't think i could have a coupler and an electrical plug running between cars at the same time  (except for between the "A" and "B" car of the married pairs).

Moonlit Night

A photojournalist friend of mine suggested introducing some moon light to the scene using a blue/white LED. So I used an LED flashlight I had handy and achieved this:

Until next time
