Brooklyn N-Track Show, September 25-26, 2010

Brooklyn N Trak held one of its shows this past weekend. Here are two items you ight be interested in viewing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5e1IxeRp0E

The first is a brief film and te second is a slide show.

You might notice a hobby shop is in one of the scenes. This appears on a module built one of Brooklyn N-Traks founding members. It seems he worked at that shop after he retired. Unfortunately that shop is no longer in business so don't try to find it.

The Henderson Building kitbash

My latest kitbash project for the Hoovertown expansion is The Henderson Building named after my sister and family. It is a combination of Bachmann's Ambassador Hotel and Walther's Merchant's Row II. Actually, it is mainly the Ambassador Hotel as the only parts I'm using from the Walther's kit is the ground floor retail front and the very top cap.

Here's the Walther's kit after I cut the sections out that I will use.

Track Signals

I imagine within this august forum, and with the depth of knowledge demonstrated by all concerned - someone can probably answer this question.

Has anyone scratch built track signals using LED's and fibre pipe?

Remembering, then Dismembering the Chaffee Branch

I recognize a lot of names here from long ago on the Atlas board.  You might remember my old N Scale Chaffee Branch project.  Just in case you've been losing sleep wondering whatever happened to it, here's your chance to find out!

The latest entry in the Bliggity Blog!

Enjoy!

Downloadable Cardstock Buildings

An interesting website that features downloadable pdf models of historical Illinois buildings, for instance Lincoln's Springfield home, etc.  Some interesting "main street" models similar to the old Heljan courthouse square series and the DPM's. Nice brickwork and roof detail. Check it out.  Free

Curve Radius Question

If I have a hidden turn back loop where the viewing realism doesn't matter, is a 24" radius adequate for reliable 6 axle diesel operation? Assuming the track work is correct and the rolling stock in a 1970's 18-20 car train is NMRA compliant is there any concern of string lining? Everything I read says it will work but I would like to hear your practical experience opinion.

Thanks,

Sound FX from Digitrax decoders

There is an add in the October issue of Modelrailroader for Sound FX from Digitrax. The add lists two decoders the SDH164D @ $49-95 and the SDN144PS @ $49-95. I could not find either of these decoders on Digitrax's web site, The one I am interested in is the SDH164D. Has any one fitted one of these into a HO scale diesel? Has it got preloaded sounds for first and second generation EMD diesels and Alco diesels? Also does any one know wether these decoders can be programmed using Lenz DCC?
