Cuyahoga River Bridge - Part 3

Now that the basic bridge is completed and slots correctly, it is time for finishing touches. First is the electrical work of soldering drops to the power buss. I elected for one drop location on the back side (non-visible) of the structure that connects a short distance to the end of the buss using wire nuts.

Update on BNML Layout Progress

Here is an update on my progress on the BNML. Letellier to Emerson...

This diagram shows the area covered in this update.

My brand new shelf layout

Hello, I will show you Shelf Layouts I’m working on.
I have found on guest room of my house some space for a shelf layout and, most important thing, my girlfriend agree: D

The layout space is not so big but I’m pretty sure to make something can satisfy me both in functionality and design

I have plane to make some module to be easier to maintaining procedure and change them when I will be more professional with years.

Switching Layout - Take Two

About a year ago, I began building a layout. I had decided I wanted a switching layout. I knew we would move out of our apartment eventually, so I decided to build it in sections so that it could move when we eventually did. I drew up some plans and began building. It was an L shaped layout, approximately ten feet by 11 feet.

Tortoise Herding

It's time to install some switch machines in my layout. Not because anything is hard to reach or that the layout is large, but just because I want them. I've bought a herd of tortoises and am about halfway through the job. I thought it might be interesting to document my adventures here in hopes that others will share their experiences too.

Work on my layout addition

Today I continued with my layout addition.
Here the result.

Cuyahoga River Bridge - Part 2

The cork roadbed has dried and now it is time to test fit, level and make the final installation of the bridge. To start, it is helpful to have an extra set of hands (thank you Mrs. Calhoun) to hold the bridge roughly in place so that temporary supports can be installed to check for level and then installation of the slotted pieces.

Cuyahoga River Bridge

I have started work on spanning the 38 inch "gap" across the doorway between the West End (under construction) and the East End of my shelf railroad. Over the weekend, I had an open house to celebrate the "almost completion" of that portion of the layout. Discussions centered on cosmetic improvements to the existing structures and advice on plans for the rest including the bridge work.

Painting the helix

I need to know what the general opinion is on painting the helix. I don't recall seeing one painted but some of the guys in the club think we should. What do you think or recommend? Thanks

Update on BNML Layout Progress

Here is an update on my progress on the BNML. Morris to St Jean...

This diagram shows the area covered in this update.

All the tricky bits of benchwork seem to be located in this section. The outside corner is complicated by the fact that it crosses the descending ramp to staging, so clearances are tight. And I also built my first super elevated curve. Works good so far!
