Rebuilding and Detailing Athearn Switchers Part 3

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve worked on this. My modeling generally jumps between various projects and the time I put in, is inconsistent to say the least. The work featured in this post was done 2 years ago, last fall I painted, decaled and weathered the shell, so it’s progressing. Let’s see if I took enough photos to remember how I constructed this model. This part will focus on building the Cannon & Co cab.

HO Alco C415 Project: Rail Car America 423

I recently stumbled on a prototype photo in my late 1980s era that inspired a slightly new direction for the layout, while keeping the physical layout itself the same: Rail Car America C415 #423:

DT & I Large Scale Boxcar Weathering Project (Work in Progress)

After the success of weathering my first large scale boxcar back this winter, I decided to tackle another long forgotten project. Years ago, another large scale modeler Brian Brigg's passed away. He was a excellent modeler, scratch and kitbashing large scale projects. In the following post, I will explain some background and get into the model.

Here are some links to some of his projects.

I wanted to share with you the mid-conclusion point of one of my longest modeling projects.

Print your own cover for bulkhead loads

I recall reading an excellent article on MRH that described how to print your own load cover for bulkhead loads.  In particular, it was referring to using a piece of balsa wood on a bulkhead car that was covered with thin plastic sheet labeled for one of the lumber companies.  I have two bulkhead cars and want to use the graphic for "Idaho Wood Products" but can't find the article.  Can anyone help me?  I'm probably using incorrect terminology but hopefully it is close enough...

Cataloguing Software for your engines and rolling stock

Cataloguing Software -   what does one suggest for Cataloguing your engines and rolling stock. You can keep it all in your head but I want to photograph before and after weathering, list the weights, what I bought when and where. Any suggestions I was thinking excel then I saw you can get onenote templates.

Hatch for a Train Miniature reefer

Does anyone know of a source for parts for HO scale Train Miniature parts? I am looking for a hatch for a reefer.

A short look behind the scenes at Roco (YouTube)

This came up in my feed and I thought it's interesting to see a glimpse of production being done in EU (though reading the comments some items are made in Viet Nam apparently).

Displaying my passenger train

My branch line terminus layout can only fit a short passenger train. So I got out all my cars and put them on the inglenook to display them and to photograph them.

I have no idea if the sleeper car and coaches are in the proper positions.
