Scale Model Animation 2 – LEDs and Lighting

Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! In this installment I want to touch on more “points” on lighting and LEDs—likely more than you’ll ever want to know!

Soldering Power Feed Back On

I recently purchases a used loco.  The power feed to the rear truck is disconnected.  I had it sort of soldered back on last night, but it came apart.  My problem is that the wire is so small I can't really even strip the insulation off without breaking wires.  Any suggestions?  I think if I could get the insulation off and the wire twisted and maybe tinned I could do this.  This is new territory for me.  Thanks.

Union Pacific FP7 Air Horn type

I have just finished installing a Tsunami decoder in an old Atlas UP FP7 model that I have had since I was a teenager. It is number 1498. I am starting to program the sound and lights and I wasn't sure what air horn would be appropriate for this model given the prototype. I don't even know where to find this sort of prototype information. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Couplers

I have acquired a group of cars with various  types of couplers. What I want to do is, of course, go to one type, Kadee's, Which is the better, #5's or #58's?  And why? Which is the more popular? An inquiring mind want's to know and so do I.I just know this is going to make some opinions known, strongly. Thanks.
