SMA16 –Harry’s TV Shop: New Working HO TV Models for 1964—“In Living Color” & New Sign Too!
Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! Recently a fellow modeler (Rick Wade http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/21049) dreamed about building a working HO scale TV—and I wondered—is that possible? Then I found Harry’s TV shop and stopped wondering…
Much Grass But Not For Smoking - LOL!
Ok, here's the drill. I got a static grass applicator and the colors I thought would go well. I have existing scenery with very low ground cover and was told that I could use cheap hair spray over the existing stuff and apply the static grass over it. Is this correct? Or do I have to scrape off the old and start over? I assume that I'd have to remove the trees and replace them once the grass was installed "underneath."
Looking for siding like Pikestuff buildings
Does anyone know of styrene, preferably, that looks like the typical Pikestuff siding used for these kits? I've been reading through the MR archives and for each article I've found with a modern building like this, they end up using a Pikestuff kit as a starter! One article mentioned Northeastern having milled basswood that looks like steel siding except NE doesn't have photos on their site. Working in HO scale.
Corrugated tends to have too close of a spacing.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Pop's garage added in Russellville
I just added a small scratch built garage in Russellville. I'd purchased a small sheet of resin concrete blocks years ago and thought they'd be great for making a foundation. Recently saw a neat little laser kit of a garage and decided to make my own from some left over Grandt Line windows and doors I had laying around. Probably took me 3-4 hours from start to finish. Any questions let me know.

dirt paint color
I see tht every one seems to use a tan paint on their layout. But the dirt in my area is more of a grey brown sort of color. Do you match the color to the area you are modeling?
Thanks

The Structures for the Relocated CNW Engine Treminal "Goods Warehouse"
This update will be for the structures that I am building/and have built for the relocated CNW Engine Terminal. The first one is a kit bash (sorta). I got this building as part of a collection I bought a few years back to resell. I wanted something a little different then what the original kit provided. After some research I think that it was from the Pikestuff series, and was the Pre Fab Warehouse. Well anyway what I did was repainted and weathered it. I then built the raised foundation and dock as shown in the first two photos.
scenic walls
I am setting up my track and am l would like to know how tall should my background be for a H.O. setup. I do not want to overkill my setup. I have a 10 foot wall I need any help or advice. thanks jerry
Working in 3D the old fashion way
After trying to find good dimensions of the Marion 4160, I decided that if I was going to 3D print parts I needed a working model to help get a handle on how it all goes together. Given the change in exchange rate and costs of 3D printing, I figure it is to my advantage to scratch build the Marion 4160 first. Then if/when I get it into 3D drawings and print the parts, I can have a couple of them.
Painting your groundcover and static grasses
Well most of you might think painting groundcover thats odd..I do it mostly to blend all colors together and get an overall equal color on the layout, no matter what your initial groundcover color is. Can be rocks, grinded kitty litter or whatever.. Basecoat with RAL7013, dabbed on, followed with RAL7006 a bit Frary way of wet drybrush, a coat with a brownish RAL 8025 followed with 1019 to blend it all together..
