DPM plug and Play Autos

I was looking at DPM's site to check price on a kit and looking at future announcements discovered that they will be offering autos set up for their plug and play system this fall.

Great news for those of us that like to set up our layouts for night scenes as well as daylight operation.

Scratchbuild grain elevator - Almost done

The grain elevator is almost finished. All it needs are some windows and a place on the layout.

plywood for laser cutters

Does anyone have recommendations for a good supplier for quality 3 ply 1 and 2 MM plywood well suited for laser cutting?

North Conway NH Roundhouse -- What to do?

First off, this post is not meant in ANY way to be a criticism of any vendor.  In fact I really like the vendors involved. The problem I need to solve is my own from my own lack of attention to what I was buying. I have asked this question on another site as well - and got one answer so far - very much appreciated - from a modeler I respect immensely, but I am looking for as much input as I can get before I make a final decision.

Creative use of Legos

I was inspired by Tom Klimoski’s use of Lego parts for his operating overhead rolling door and was wondering if other modelers have used Legos in creative ways on their layouts. I don’t mean using Legos for scenic elements but rather for mechanisms, etc., similar to what Tom did. I know of some modelers who glue Lego bricks to square and reinforce corners on structures which is a great idea.

A Little scenery makes a big difference

A little scenery makes a big difference.  One of the goals of this layout is to get a little scenery down at the same time I get the operation going.  All my previous layouts had the scenery wait while I focused on large swaths of benchwork and track.

I think the 30 minutes roughing in the tree line on the backdrop and the afternoon making the trees was well spent.

Here is the Wilmington area with the fascia under construction:

Working on the Railroad...Again

Hi first time posting here so I hope this works.

I've been working on an On30 railway that will be built as a series of modules and will be installed in a future train room/studio.

The projected mainline will have 2 through truss bridges, one is a foreground structure that will be scratch built from Evergreen Styrene and Special Shapes as well as other parts suppliers. It will be approximately 86 scale feet long and will be similar to the Silverton's truss bridge across the Animas River in Durango, CO.
