Scenery - Structures
Time for some ground cover
The track next to the storage facility/parking garage is buried right to the top of the ties. So that was tonight's project.
Heres the location.
Junk Dealer is pretty much done!
This part is done, at least for now! There is still some details that will need to be added but I will move on to something else, the paper recycler behind.
the tree have just been inserted and are not glued in place, it was only to get a feel for the view.
Below are pictures of the scene complete with cars!
More building work
While this building isn't rail served, its such a key element in the overall concept of what I am building that I had to include it. This is the building. It's an indoor storage facility and also a parking garage that the railroad runs right next to before it crosses W North Ave and the railroad bridge over the North Branch Canal onto Goose Island.
This is my version of this structure.
How to paint a Telltale
Hi
I bought 4 telltales (you know, the arrangement to tell the maximum hight of cars and locos) from Tichy Train Group. They came in glossy black plastic so naturally I have to paint them.
However, I have searched the web for relevant images, prototypical or models, to find out what color to use.
I am sure someone out there can assist me.

More work on the junk dealer
Hi guys,
I was able to work some more on the junk dealer area this week, I got it fenced up about 2/3 of the way. The fence frames are 1/32" brass rod were soldered to the posts and the chain link is very fine mesh I got in a craft store for $2 way back then... The frames are completed and I just need to add the chain link screen to them. It's not perfect, but I prefer it over the plastic chain link fence from Walthers (not bashing the product, I just saw someone try to work with it and saw first hand how difficult it is!).
Train Ride # 3 with Camera with an Update on the Union Station Engine Facility Plus the New N-Scale BLI Water Tower
This is the third Train Ride with the Cube Camera & shows some of the sections of the layout not shown in the previous two camera train rides. Once again, the camera is facing backward on the depressed center flat car. The two car train is led by an N-scale Kato E8A with a motor decoder only. The trip starts out with the train exiting the West Helix then through Michaelson Junction and around the main level of the center peninsula and back to Union Station.
A couple of my latest builds
Here are photos of a couple of my latest builds for the CNW Peninsula Div. The first set are of the "Feed Mill" at Watersmeet. I used the Walthers Columbia Feed Mill kit #933-3090, but I did completely repaint and weather it. I made my signs on the computer, as well as some decals from the kit. I don't like to use the business names as supplied by Walthers.

West end work continues
Hi guys,
Work continues on the West end of my layout with the main building of the paper recycling plant, which received it's sidings and roof finish. I will need to add the small roof over the doors and still have to make the frames around the door openings after the sills have been sanded. The doors will be installed after the building is painted since they will be printed from photos.
The sign is temporarily installed and I will build a frame around it.
My first module - Fascia & foreground grass & bushes
Now that the ballasting was complete the next task was to tidy up the front edge of the module by installing a fascia. The foam had already started to fray in a few places so it was time.
So after a few cuts with the jigsaw, a bit of sanding, some liquid nails and clamping at last I had a fascia.
