Sugar Cane Train in Florida

Sugar cane is big business in Florida and US Sugar has a railroad to move the cane to mills. Danny Harmon shot a video of some of the operation entitled "Sugar Cane Train Chase Winter 2018".

Here is his caption and a link to the video:

Site was down for ~30 min

The site was down today for about 30 min. Our hosting service applied a security patch and it glitched something. But we're back now!

Weathering - with or without photos? Pros/Cons?

When you weather, do you use photos or do you not use photos?

Why or why not? Pros/Cons of each approach?

San Juan Car Co is For Sale

This was posted on the San Juan Car Company Wed site. Hope someone will take it over.

Searchable External Links.

This idea comes from my frustration of seeing a youtube link to channel or blog site from a current member in the signature on any given topic.

I am a dinosaur when it comes to the digital world.  While I am at work, I get to view the site in 3G, old android phone..older browser.

I see links in very interesting posts/posters personal blog pages and youtube videos.  When I get home, I find myself manually searching each and every post made by any member, for that one external link that I think may help my knowledge.

End of the MRH members pin map

ZeeMaps, the ones hosting the MRH members pin map, are ending their free maps offering for all except 100 pins or less. We easily exceed that number.

ZeeMaps is moving to a paid business model for their map and in looking at what else is out there, ZeeMaps pricing is exorbitant. So we are ending the map as of this Friday, March 23.

The map is a nice idea, but these days many are appropriately leery about posting their location on the internet.

User profile enhancement

We have just made an enhancement to the MRH website: User Profiles.

If you go to My Account and select the EDIT tab, there now are three links: Account - Profile - Notifications

Account and Notifications are not new, but Profile is new.

Profile currently lists these fields: Real name, Scale(s), Phone number

You can fill out some, none, or all of these fields. In the interest of not promoting spurious web aninimity, we encourage everyone to go to My Account and at least fill in the Real name profile field. Once filled in, it will show whenever people click your name in posts.

Another missing thread

I seem to be unable to find a recent thread to which I wanted to add something. I posted some photos last night to the thread about simple coal unloading facilities and this morning I can't seem to find it. I tried searching for "coal" but that didn't find it either. Unfortunately I don't recall if the thread was a blog entry or a discussion entry.

Is this another case of a blog entry that was removed by it's initial author or am I just having a senior moment?

Just curious...
