New 63' Centerbeams coming

I saw this posted on another forum. http://www.exactrail.com/model-trains?product_type=2455 I know that there are many of us here would like some without having to go the Front Range/ McKean route.  Allow though narrow in scope they do allow centerbeams for those on narrower radius curves who would rather not run the 72' ones.  the down side is at nearly $50 a piece most of us won't be getting too many.

Rerailers

When locomotives are equipped with rerailers, would there just be one, or would there be one on each side of the locomotive? I've searched and searched pictures on the net, but just can't find an answer that way.

new chassis for an old brass Alco S1

I bought an old brass Alco S1- gorgeous paint job, but operationally - not really. Has the old drive shaft connecting the trucks and it decines from there. Since the shell is great I figure the easiest fix is to put it on a neww DCC (or DCCC ready engine and away I go.  Has anyone done this and are the any recommendations on the engine to usr? I assume a new S-1 but open to learn from experience. I know the engine may wind up a little taller due to the plastic chassis but I can easily live with that.

All help greatly appreciated

microscale passenger cars for tight radius

I am trying to remember where I recently saw an article with instructions on how to reconfigure microtrains n scale passenger car trucks so the cars would operate on tight radius track.  Does anyone recall seeing the article and where?

Appreciate the help

Problems with break squeal on Athearn Genesis

I have a factory installed Tsunami (TSU-1000) in a Athearn Genesis MP15AC.

I have a question that has had me puzzled for some time now – and that’s the break squeal.  I can’t seem to get it to work on my engine?  Pressing various as-listed function keys gets me what I believe is the air break sound – but coming to a stop I hear nothing.

Pressing the Option button on the PowerCab (default for brake) it just stops completely.

I am looking for some information

I have posted on other sites as well as some O gauge sites with no luck yet.  I am curious about the drive mechanism of the Overland Models 0360 O Scale Whitcomb Switcher.  See eBay item # Item number: 221071207688.  The seller does not want to unwrap or test the unit to maintain its "mint" condition.  I can respect that but I'd still like to know what I'm getting into, as I'm totally unfamiliar with this model.

F59PH versus F59PHI

Has anyone ever scratchbuilt or kitbashed an F59PH ?

It is my understanding that Athearn produces an F59PHI which has a more streamlined cab and flairs around the radiator. Kaslo shops produces a rather expensive resin shell for an F59PH.

So, for the poor man, has anyone ever taken an F40PH body and a SD60 wide cab and cobbled a convincing model together? Would it or did it work? Photos would be awesome if you have them....

Odd Cab on SD45

I was searching though some pictures on google, and this caught my eye.  There is a 2 foot long extension to the middle of the cab on Reading SD45s.  Does anyone know why these were built this way?

Dimensions for an Aggregate Hopper

I plan to have a quarry on the layout and want to run Ortner-style aggregate hoppers in sand & gravel service.  Ortners are available in HO (my scale) but they're running about $30 a piece!  Considering even a modest quarry will produce more than one car of stone in a day's work, I'll need a small fleet and buying even a handful of these will be way out of my budget. After seeing so many amazing scratchbuilt pieces, I've decided to take a crack at it myself and have selected two prototype models to base my model on.
