Locos and rolling stock

Is it Light, Medium or Heavy Steam?

I know it has been a long time since I posted anything.  I have been lurking on the site off and on..  I am still building my layout from my own design.  Like a lot of people I am working from home during the pandemic and I have more time to build my layout.  I do have a question for the steam enthusiasts on the forum, but first let me provide a some  history.

PA Scale Models help FM H16-44

Hi,

I'm looking for a powered underframe for the subject engine.  It's diecast and now and again NIB (Bowser) ones are on Ebay.  I saw the frame no. and it's 42000. Not an Athearn no. I think but looks like one.  Bowser said that they made a frame for the engine a while back but can't help.  The motor on the underframe I saw has brass flywheels but I can't find anything like it.  I picked up a 41018 (not here yet), from an Athearn S12 or SW/7.  The SW/1000 frame is not compatible.

Any comments appreciated,

Walthers Vs. BLI Plymouth Loco

How does the BLI Plymouth compare to the Walthers Plymouth?

How much do they each weigh? Does one run better than the other? Does one have better detail than the other?

Working with very small styrene objects.

I need to make 2 stair steps for a CN caboose. I am having a devil of a time trying tomake them in styrene. I cannot find a video or blog on making small objects with styrene.

the problem is securing the very small parts while gluing them

Anyone know of one?

NWSL Stanton Drive

Does anyone have any experience with NWSL Stanton Drive for HO scale?  I'm working on repowering/powering light rail, so I'm interested in a motor drive that has a low profile and also something that is easy to wire for DCC.

Any experiences with this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Kitbashed Steam

I have been working on my long dormant project of kitbashing a P&R camelback based on a Roundhouse 2-8-0.

The Wooten firebox was made from sheet styrene.  A lot of the details are brass castings.  Here is the boiler  with the domes and air pump test fitted, nothing glued down yet.

Help Identify this vintage 0-4-0 loco tank engine

Hi all,

I'm new here and could really use some help identifying this locomotive. I haven't been successful. There is a plaque with the letter "I" on the side of the tank and it has a manual brake that works.

Thanks,
