Locos and rolling stock
Yesterday’s train haul, a dream come true
Yesterday, I managed to stop into a local hobby shop, and I acquired done very neat trains, one of which is one I have been after for years, being the Tyco Golden Eagle, the other I got was the Tyco Transformers train, for 15 and 20
Marker Light Jewels
All,
Can anyone recommend a source for non-lighted red and green marker light jewels? I need some that are 1.5-2.0mm for my Bachman Spectrum Doodlebug. I check Walthers but they are showing out of stock.
Thanks,

Custom modeled freight cars and other N and HO models
I have been practicing my CAD skills over the past few years, and recently, I decided to design freight cars, detail parts, and other models. As an N scale modeler, I have been involved in the hobby for many years now and have noticed that there is a certain limit manufacturers reach when producing models: only a certain amount of new models can be researched, CADed, tooled, manufactured, and released every year.
Tichy Ore Cars question(s)
I've had these kits awhile but I'm just now getting around to assembling them.I have fourteen to do all together. My first one was a very slow endeavor but I'm hoping I'll speed up as my familiarity with them gets better.
The Car Shop has been busy
The Wilmington Car Shop has been busy. Since the temps are so low I've stopped cutting benchwork in the garage and have taken time catch up on some rolling stock projects.
K4 decals made some LV boxcar decals and I bought a sheet. One sheet will letter 4 cars, so I went whole hog and am building 4 cars.
the making of prototype axles
I have always had an idea how wheels and axles were made. This video is just kinda cool and definitely an industry you can model.
P2K GP7 Downgrade Lurch
My first P2K GP7 arrived from the Sound Guy a week or so ago. I've been using as a switch engine at my Branson (MO) yard and it performs great.
Well, tonight I was using it to transfer a train from Branson to Clarskville (AR). It was headed down the ruling grade with a train behind it. I have discovered that it has severe "lurch" as the gear-train runs in/out.
Custom designing a shell for a passenger coach
another neat project of mine I am currently working on. I am planning on designing and building a body shell to fit on top of this Athearn Observation coach kit. The planned modifications would keep the observation deck, but add a dome that extends almost the full length of the coach, as well as the possibility of a small anti-aircraft turret on the section of the roof above a the deck. The completed coach would be named “Primo Victoria”, which is Latin for First Victory. Any thoughts or advice on how I could build the dome?
Possible uses for an articulated tanker?
Alright
so I recently acquired a pair of tanker cars that are literally the exact same, with the same car number and labelled for the same company. I decided that instead of repainting or renumbering the cars, I would use an extra bogie I had available to make what is now my only articulated car. It can still take my 18 radius curves, but the question is, what sort of operating capabilities do I have with said car? Any thoughts or opinions?
