HO P2K SD9 decoders
I managed to get a couple of the P2K SD9s (DCC ready) for a good price and just need to add the decoders. I haven't been too happy with the line decoders I have been using lately and I am looking to change.
Anyone have a favorite that will fit these they would like to recommend?
Thanks

MRC decoder in Genesis MP15
Ok, I have a Genesis MP15 from the original production has the MRC sound decoder. On my home layout, and club layout, the locomotive will run then all of a sudden shut off. Goes dead. If I bump it, it will run then shut off again.
I have:
checked all solder connections in the locomotive
cleaned wheels and areas where the wheel contact the small wipers on the trucks
I have checked the track, turnouts, and wiring on my layout.
TCS FL2
To place the question in context (!) I am running up to 36 DCC trains, some of which are the older Triang/Hornby locos I have successfully converted to DCC. I am using the Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance system and have not had any problems with it. I am now adding DCC Concepts Flicker Free lighting to coaches and have even managed to build my own version, its just not as "pretty". I say all this to show I have a reasonable amount of knowledge on fitting lighting and decoders.
Decoder short in Throttle up?
My MTH SD70M has a digitrax DH163D decoder installed and it has worked fine. Until today? When I power up the system, the lights come on and everything seems fine. When I turn the throttle, it immediately stops and indicates a "short" in the system. So, with no short at "idle", then the truck wiring must be ok. As the throttle is increased, power is fed to the motor and it stops. I could check the wiring of the orange and grey wires to ensure they have not somehow loosened causing this short.
Decoder Operated Turnable -- toggling from control panel
Some months ago I got the bright idea that I wanted to operate the motor of my Atlas turntable using a decoder. So I installed an inexpensive loco decoder, configured it and found it worked pretty well. But it didn't take too long to find that selecting the turntable on my Digitrax Zephyr got old pretty fast. Having the simplicity of a button on my control panel started to appeal. But the one nice aspect of having it controlled by the throttle was variable speed and reversability.

NCE Cab 06
So I received my Cab 06 in the mail today. The day before Friday on the eve of our August Civic Long Weekend up here in the Great White North. An entire Long Weekend to experiment and play with my new Cab. Exciting.
I eagerly unboxed it and read the instructions... yes, the instructions. They are those printed words on paper in book formant included with those gadgets we like to buy but apparently are something "Real Men" don't need.
Converting Walthers Trainline Locos To DCC
I have got a few Walthers Trainline locomotives and would like to convert them toDCC. I know these are
not top of the line locos but they run smooth and have good pickup.Whith a little weathering and some
extra detail work they look pretty good. I was wondering if anybody out there has converted any of these
to DCC. There seems to be alot of metal and the motor is in contact with the frame. A little advice would
How to wire LEDs into a control panel to indicate direction...
Hello all.
I hate to bother people here, but I have a question regarding LEDs wired into my control panel. Iwas not going to add these, but I have to admit that it would make routing and indication of active track/ turnout direction easier for the operator. So...
Wireless system from NWSL
Battery operated. Works on rails that have DC, AC or DCC power. He is running it with the Stanton Drive. Use your imagination for ways to adapt it.

The concrete tie dilemma. . .
Concrete ties pose a unique issue to consider. Let's say you like to model modern; using flex track with concrete ties in certain sections, if not all of your layout makes sense. However, let's say you have the urge to run transition era equipment from time to time; the concrete ties just won't do.
I know, I know, "just lay all track with wooden ties." But I also want concrete ties in some places - what to do!?!?!?!?
