n scale sound
Last month I traded up from my old Lenz set 02 to a NCE powercab. As I have no sound equipped locos those horn and whistle buttons are driving me crazy! I would like to find a 4 axle diesel (1960s) that would take a sound decoder. Any ideas?

Wiring and power for simple ovals with crossover
I have a n-scale oval on the console underneath my TV. The curves are 282mm radius. I want to put another oval inside this one with 249mm radius, and connect the two with a double crossover. I have DC power. Should I power each oval with separate power sources to provide separate speed control? If so, how do I wire the crossover?

O Scale Track
Everyone was such a big help with my question on bench work I thought I would pick your brains with yet another question. I just purchased a Lionel steam engine and a couple of their cars. I like the Scale Trax brand track but will the Lionel equipment run on it ok? The reason I am asking is the flanges on my rolling stock are Very large! I really do not like the Real Trax with the plastic ballast! Thanks!
Which Decoder
I have been unpacking all of my rolling stock and engines over the past week and checking them all out for performance. I came across a Rivarossi (AHM) 0-8-0 engine that was in pretty bad shape but I worked on it for 2 days and got it running. If I remember correctly I bought it in a junk box of other items and it is missing parts (2 front drive rods). Searches of the web got me the parts diagram but no parts available. So I side lined it and began unpacking more stuff. Lo and behold I came across another Rivarossi (AHM) 0-8-0 engine - brand spanking new. works like a charm.

Measuring cant
This tool was in another photo I posted and a few asked what it was so I've started another topic.
The original photo, the underside of the car.
Looking at the top it all becomes clear! It carries my iPod running gradient measuring software.
Set across the tracks it measures the cant or super elevation.
Errant short circuit
Within the past week, I have encountered a low voltage short on my railroad. I use an NCE dcc system and have the railroad divided into 6 power districts - this short only occurs in district two - the main yard. Any locomotive that enters the district produces a nice warm glow on the cp-6 circuit protector and as you increase the throttle, the glow gets brighter.
Anyone have any thoughts before I begin the hunt this weekend?
Thanks,
Dan Spencer

DCC with 2 power supplies question
In a Digitrax Super Empire DCC setup using two boosters each with its own power supply, is it necessary to connect the two power supplies together or is the common of the two boosters tied together sufficient?
Multiwire connectors steam engine to tender
Installing DCC into older steam engines often requires multi-wire connections between tender and engine. For those who cannot leave engines permanently coupled, there seem to be few connectors offered directly to the hobbyist. Depending on scale, some of these connections demand higher power connectors than others, while all can be challenging to fit into the limited spaces.
Long reverse Loop and multiple trains
I've a couple of reverse loops both are long and both will have more than one train working on them...
How do i place them so i can run without problems

Best rail break between boosters sections ?
What would be the best rail break between booster sections:
Straight cut through both rails, staggered or a small totally isolated rail section (4 cuts) ?
BTW: would the 2 boosters (NCE 10A) operate in phase or do they run 'loose' sync wise ? My 1st guess is loose with just the command info going over the control bus ...
cheers, Leo
