Track and electrical/DCC
dcc 308 error decoder 2 months old
Was working good, and I was fooling around with the settings for back EMF speed control.
Changing them on program track, going back on the MAIN, running a train forward- backward- fast-slow.
DCC locomotive wire sorting
I'm requesting an evaluation from experienced DCC installers on my first big project (big for me). Or inexperienced. All welcome to join in the fun.
NCE Light-It Signals as per the video
Hi all,
I watched with interest the video with Bob and Ed from NCE showing how they setup some NCE Light-Its with a Mini-Panel and BD20s to control signal lights. The great thing was that it took into account the forward/reverse blocks -- ie: signal forward was Green, current red and prior yellow as the train moved through the blocks.

Digitrax DCS200 Issues
Home on the farm making all sorts of equipment repairs and coddling our new Grandson, so have had limited time for model railroading since Easter. My 20 year old Digitrax DCS200 works but has been giving me issues with a battery installed for about a year. Works Fine with no battery but loses any changes to programming without. Half the time it won’t run any loco, and certainly won’t program any with a battery aboard. Have changed out at least 10 2032 batteries.

Any thoughts on "Model Train Technology"s New Precision Train Detection...
Just received an email from another magazine, promoting a new manufacturer "Model Train Technology" and their "Precision Detection" items. Anyone familiar with this company, and does anyone have initial thought on this. I think the idea of the MRR-GPS system is never going to get done, and I might need a system to let me know where the trains are (at least for Staging) and I wanted to avoid relying on the current through the track - requiring resistors in the wheels - if I could.
Thanks.

How to handlay a switch
I just published a You Tube video on how I handlay a switch. I demonstrate handlaying a #5 switch on my layout in code 70 rail.

curved frogs
I am in a third iteration of hand-laying curved turnouts and have hit on a best practice. My initial attempts had me mitering the the rails forming the frog and then adding the stock rails to match with multiple gauges holding the rails. My problem came from the fact that bending long strips leaves the end quite straight and the curved stock rails would not follow the kink required easily (smoothly).
Differences in ME rail profiles
So I found that two of my pieces of ME 83 flex didn't have a matching rail profile.
I thought maybe one was actually Code 70, and after getting a pair of absolutely atrocious digital calipers off of Amazon that are basically useless, as they don't measure thousandths (seriously, what's the point of calipers that don't measure thousandths?), I was more confused than ever.
How I'm Making My Own Flex Track
Hi group,
I've been lurking around these parts for a year or so, and have learned a lot. I wanted to try and give back some value to the forums by presenting some techniques I'm using to make my own HO flex track. I still have some inefficiencies and kinks to work out, and I welcome any input on how to refine the process.
