DCC specalties PSX board issues (false short detection)
PSX boards
my club is continuing to have issues with these boards. I think part of the blame is our old track work and locomotives lousing power over turnouts. when this happens the inrush current to the decoder tricks the PSX board into thinking that a short has happened when in fact it did not. The PSX tripps, trains stop and then the PSX comes back up and the locomotive continue. We had sent the boards back and they made sure they are up to current specs but our issues continue.
Anyone know of a DCC "sniffer"?
NCE has retired (discontinued, dropped) their Packet Analyzer, so I'm looking for a replacement.
Purpose: periodically connect to DCC Track bus and send packet data to laptop for capture, display, and review, primarily as an educational tool to illustrate what the command station is putting on the track in response to command input from a throttle.
Maybe even an Arduino / Raspberry PI solution - RPi might allow for connecting up to the JMRI module that reads from the NCE analyzer (if the outputs are nearly identical).
Thanks!

Fastrack switches--cost...
I was looking at fastrack, and was wondering...
How many switches of a particular type do you have to make before it starts being a cost saver? Looks like there's a decent amount to buy.

Wiring up track feeders
Hi Everyone,
I'm getting ready to wire up my staging yard. Are there any potential issues with leaving decoder equipped locomotives on the track while feeder wires are being soldered to the rails? Same question applies to my command station / boosters. My own thoughts are to remove everything but just thought I'd ask.

where do i find similar plugs?
I have to admit that LEDs and the lighted building examples I have seen at Menard's are causing me to want to add some SMDs to my structures.
Where do I find plugs similar to the ones used by Woodland Scenics? I have seen them on other toys, etc., so I know they are out there, just can't find them.

Runaway Loco...
I apologize for asking a question that I'm sure has been asked a million times, but I've searched and tried the solutions I found and I'm still stuck, or rather, not stuck, actually speeding along the track high-ball style. To add insult to injury, I think I've solved this problem myself before, but its been long enough that I don't remember what I did. Its a cold and snowy night here, so maybe somebody else is stuck at home that can help me out.
Woodland Scenics Light hub
So less than a year ago I bought some of Woodland Scenics light hub setup. Already I have two lights that the plugs dont seem to be making contact and the lights arent working properly or at all.
I'm very disappointed in these things at this point. I did unplug them several times as I was fitting them and placing them, but I thought I was careful about unplugging them from the ports.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with these??

NCE Switch 8 Mark II -- Two switch machines with one address???
I am preparing to install my first two Tortoise switch machines, controlled by the NCE Switch 8 Mark II. This particular pair of switch machines will throw a pair of turnouts whose diverging routes connect, such that either both should always be aligned straight or both should be aligned diverging.
Paragon 3 Reliablity?
So,
I've been enjoying my PRR J-1 by BLI and it’s rolling thunder sound, but looking around, I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about issues with the decoders. How reliable are the units with paragon 3 sound? I’d like to keep my engine running for years to come, and what else can be done in the event of a failure? I’ve heard that repairs for BLI engines are also outrageously expensive. Thoughts?
