Benchwork and roadbed

Is this TOMA, sort of?
I did a (very quick) look at what TOMA is and it appears to be a one module at a time approach. Did I sort of stumble on to it when building my last layout? Or do you have to complete each as you go? That wasn't really possible the way I designed the last layout. Here are a few construction photo's.
SL2 Transition from flat areas to spline
Hi Joe:
In the June 2018 MRH you shared your tentative construction plans for SL2. I found your prototype most interesting, but I am wondering in the case of grades in a layout, how you would handle the transition between what may be plywood in yard areas to spline roadbed elsewhere and still keep the same ends (top and bottoms assuming shadowbox) of each module mating correctly? In other words, would you going to put the plywood also on risers to match up with the spline or?
Kind regards,
Bill

Waterproofing Plywood
I'm building a layout in a shed external to my house in the hot, humid state of FL. While I have the shed under a carport and insulated well, it does seem to remain cool for the most part. But I do not intend to run the AC full time, so it will experience temp and humidity swings.
Many of my decks/shelfs will be good grade, multiply layered 3/4" plywood, which I intend to try and 'seal up' as much as possible against moisture absorption, and the subsequent warping that can occur.

WS roadbed and plaster cloth.
I’m just about ready to start laying down WS roadbed using their foam tack glue. Question is, this foam roadbed will be going down on foam that’s been covered with plaster cloth. I haven’t found any answers on this foam tack glue working glueing foam to plaster cloth? Should it work?
Foam or Foam
I was looking at going with the 1-inch foam insulation board vs. 2-inch for the layout base to save money. Plus the layout will be primairly city industry switching so any land contours will be suttle.
Owens Corning makes 2x2 foam sections that would be easy to work with given the majority of my layout is made up of 2-foot wide sections.
The 1-inch panels seem very sturdy. Wanted to see if anyone has used the 1-inch foam board and/or run into any issues.

What is the best material to use to glue down roadbed and lay (glue down) track?
I have seen a couple of materials mentioned for gluing down cork roadbed, as well as gluing down track. I have seen latex caulk mentioned, as well as Liquid Nails and Elmer's Glue.
Which works best for gluing down cork roadbed? Which works well for gluing down track?
Do you use something else?
What has been your experience?
By the way, I am working in N-scale (if that makes any difference).
Free-Mo Modular Construction Help
I've been looking to get into Free-Mo since I don't have any spare space for an actual layout. When I Google the topic I can't find much except for finished modules and standards. I'm looking for some guidance on how to build the framework. My plan was to just build a basic 5ft long single track module with maybe an industry or just scenery, something pretty basic to see how it all works together. I've read that foam is known to sag so it's best to lay the track on a plywood subroadbed, what is the best way to brace the subroadbed and still allow foam for scenery vs just a flat table top?

Peninsula in the room or not?
So I wonder...what parameters decide whether to build a peninsula in a specific space?
Using my own example, assuming a room of approx. 22.5x13 ft. Does 13 ft. warrant putting a peninsula in the room or should I stick to only around the walls benchwork?
Clearly there's a trade-off between having a narrower benchwork with a peninsula; or wider benchwork and no peninsula. This accounting for an aisle space of 33-38" which is generous for most home room layouts, I suppose.
Did you have a detailed design for your benchwork at first, or just freelance as you went along?
What are your experiences with designing your benchwork? Did you have a detailed schematic plan before you placed your first screw? Or did you freelance it as you went along?
I am going to be somewhere in-between myself. I have a detailed plan of the basic structure and will add to it (freelance) as I go along.
Are there cautionary tales to be told? Any sage advice?
