D&D Mining & Steel 2-8-0 Locomotive
Seen pictures of a steam loco still working a a steel mill in 1979 and I am modeling mainly between 70s and 80s. I figured I would do a steam loco for my mill. The paint scheme is copied from a small railroad company in Eastern KY called Morehead and North Fork. The model started out as a Bachmann Southern locomotive. I still have to weather it but here is a picture of the locomotive fresh out of the paint shop.
Deciding between two classic layout plans
I'm well into the demolition of my existing layout. I hate how much harder it seems to get the stuff out than it did to put it in. It's probably the other way around and easier to take out but it doesn't seem that way. Guess it has something to do with the anticipation when you are starting a project rather than ending one.
Mexican Carreta
I have been too busy modeling to post progress, but I finished a Mexican oxcart (called a carreta) and have a few photos to share:
The carreta is basically part of an old Revell western kit dating back to the late 1950s. I added scratchbuilt wheels, a hay bale load, and a pair of oxen.
Platform detailing
Work has continued with the detailing of both platforms, and the car park area at the rear of Platform 1.
Included in this work has been:
- Completion of rail fencing
- Completion of pedestrian crossing
- Platform lighting fabricated (non-working)
- Platform fencing installed (where necessary)
- Installation of power poles (scratchbuit)
- Installation of CTC relay building on platform 1.
