The Problem with Construction...

As many of you know I've recently started construction on my new layout. Occasionally in the middle of construction though, ideas come to you that you didn't have before, necessitating a pause to consider whether you want to continue as planned, or go with the possible new revision. I find myself at such a point and am looking for the opinions of my fellow MRH to help me decide which way to go.

Scenes and Transitions

I've been thinking a lot about showmanship in modeling lately so today's post on the Thunder Mesa website is all about scenes and transitions.

Are the results worth the effort?

I've been working on the trackwork for a 4' module and I've spend close to 8 hours weathering the track, and I'm not finished yet!  I'm just looking for a little validation that all of the effort is worth the outcome.

One thing I will not continue doing is adding joint bars.  Even with adding rust to them before applying chalk, they are invisible.

Operating Leadville

I paid a visit to Keith Hayes a few weeks ago, and he describes the operating session we held in the latest post on the C&Sn3 blog. You can read about it here: http://coloradosouthern.blogspot.com/

Twelve Months of Layout Updates (Kind Of)

So over those twelve months (which is about to become seventeen, or more) there’s probably been less than two weeks or so of actual work, in three different stretches, but I did manage to get some things accomplished during that time.

RBHX 3 - Chance meeting with prototype leads to model of a modern salt hopper.

This is the story of how I built RBHX 3. I wanted to do a few cars for an upcoming RPM meet, and I also need a few more cars for my NMRA AP rolling stock certificate. This was a fun one to build as I could actually see where it is delivered too each month. I hope you enjoy. Feedback is always welcome, and I will try to answer any and all questions.
