Staging Yard Lighting

This weekend I enlisted a couple "volunteers" to help install some lighting for my staging yard.  Trains are actively staged during the session, and the lack of lighting was something of a hindrance.

Drainage, Drainage, Drainage - Adding a Culvert

Among other ongoing projects, I decided to add a culvert in the Greasewood Draw scene.  It's not done yet, but let's see what's happening...

Old Skool Diesel Shop - U30B

I did something this week I haven't done in many years: I decaled a locomotive.  This is another one of my loco projects that's languished in a box, then on a shelf, waiting for me to spend some time on them again.  It's not done yet, as Dullcote and weathering are still to come, along with some wheel slip indicator details and window glass, but it's close.  About time as I painted it no later than about 1997.

New Throwbar for Central Valley Turnouts

I started on a new industrial spur this week.  I chose a Central Valley (CVT) turnout kit, partly for the challenge of trying a new throwbar idea.  This is HO scale.

First Backdrop Nearing Completion

This is just a quick update on some backdrop progress.  I'll add more to my main scenery blog later.

COMPLETED - MRH Forum Challenge - Bridge Scene

I challenged myself to make some progress finishing a scene.  I now have quite a bit of scenery complete only to the point where the plaster is in and painted, but it will be nice to get someplace DONE or at least much closer to it.

I thought of finishing the area around two bridges on my mainline, which would also require completing a fairly sizable portion of the backdrop.  I decided instead to work on two trestles in the bottom of Cedar Creek canyon, which will require 3-D scenery only.

Here's the location:

Some Big Time Progress on the 8th Sub

See what I did there?  The progress in question relates to fast clocks.  I finally made sufficient headway on the dispatcher's office to install the fast clock master module.  I'm using the Time Lynx from Rail Lynx http://rail-lynx.com/accessory_modules.htm.  Unlike the clock that's integral with my NCE DCC system, the Time Lynx is variable in tenths of a "fast" hour anywhere from 1:1 to 25:1.  It was also more cost effec

Doin' the Desert - Scenery and Backdrops on the 8th Sub

Scenery construction is underway.  Follow along as the Great Basin takes shape.

UPDATES:

Agribusiness - Industry on the 8th Sub

Since I'm about to start scenery around the town of Milton, I decided to finish a few structures to make sure they'll fit in as intended.  These won't be 100% done until they have a completed scene around them, but in their present state should give an idea of how the place will look.
