An update on my HO mill project

I have recently had some inspiration on my mill diorama. I rebuilt the base and adapted a new loading area as well as hand laying the two lengths of track.

Making Decisions DC or DCC or Both - Anyone still building DC layouts out there?

Some of you may have seen my last blog post with a relatively simple single track double deck layout plan. Now its time for me to make a choice.

DC or DCC control or a combination - it may seem like an od decision for some but and an easy one at that but for me after 10 -15 years in the electronics i like simple things and the old flick a switch and turn a knob.

Northen Pacific Yacolt Branch - A single track branch intechanging with logging lines.

I thought I would share the upper deck track plan for my NP Yacolt branch.

I plan to model the Northern Pacific Yacolt Branch in the 1930's incorporating the last half of the line from Homan to Yacolt. The upper deck of my layout will feature the end of the line Yacolt and its interchange with Murphy Lumber company.

Silver Streak Boxcar Caboose Build

I grabbed an ebay bargain the other week $3.50 for an old silverstreak Caboose kit. Thouhg i should post a build topic of the old gem.

SWSM Railroad Camp HO - Scratch build project

Years ago i bought Sierra West Scale Models Railroad Camp in HO scale.

It sat on the shelf for a few years. I had looked at it. read the instructions and put it back waiting until i had the time to tackle such a big kit.

I moved house and decided to part with and and fund some of extras on the property. before i did though i measured out and also made copies of the templates, cut walls ect if i wanted to build it in the future.

Well now im making a start on it.

O scale Blacksmith Shop

Thought i might post a few pics of an old project. Its been on my bench for probably 8 years on and off. I don't model O scale any more so it tends to get worked on from time to time when i need a break from HO.

It is a Stoney Creek Designs Kit

Slater Lake Lumber Co Mill

For many years I have wanted a logging layout. Living in apartments and things have made it difficult and also all those un finished projects on the bench. I recently built a home on a rural block. Now the house is finished the next major thing is a layout room and shed. With any luck by the end of the year I will have this completed and a 10' x 20' dedicated layout space with a 10' x 10' studio to work in.

Anyway its now time to start a project that will become a large part of this layout. No doubt it will be a long precess to complete.

West Avenue - My Ho city street switching layout

I had a few people really like my first blog post so I decided to go back through my photos and share the construction process of my current layout West Avenue.

Many years ago I bought the book Building City Scenery by John Pryke. Since then I have had a fascination with city street layouts. In 2013 my wife and I decide to move 1500kms interstate and across Bass Straight to Tasmania. I had just parted with my n scale micro and was in need of something to run trains and tinker with.

My Old N Scale Micro Layout

I thought i would share an old layout of mine i built about 2 years ago.

I was after a small project as i lived in a unit at the time. I based the plan around the John Allen time saver with a little tweak here and there. The idea was to attempt to do it on a tight budget. In the end i think it came in around $200 for everything on the layout. I scratch built all the buildings with scrap from other projects. Used card to form the bridges ect. It was good fun but in the end i moved it on so someone could enjoy it.

On my Bench

Hi everyone,

Im new to the MRH. Have been reading for a long time but never posted. I thought its time i contribute to the community. My layout is in a different state at the time being. Can't with until its transported here in 5 weeks. In the mean time ive been keeping busy at my workbench.

Anyway i hope people find my modeling interesting as im considering writing an article or two fro MRH in the future.

I finished this truck up yesterday. Its from wheelworks parts.
