Two New Haven boxcars

I was down in West Linncott and shot these two Hew Haven boxcars standing there. I always liked the large script logo used on these cars at that time. Here we find a Pullman Standard PS-1 on the left and an AAR 1937 car on the right.

CY&P #1 joins the roster.

I've had an MDC boxcab laying around for many years.  I was going to re-motor it, but the chassis design was such a bear, I couldn't come up with a plan.  Quite some time ago I ran on to this article on how to use a Bachmann 44-ton chassis to accomplish this:

West Linncott - Open For Business!

It has been a while my first post (5-16) regarding West Linncott on my pike:

I can now say most of the "heavy" work is done.  Since then, all the structures have been placed, involving quite a bit of kit-bashing and scratching.  I took a locomotive and a few cars down there, we can walk around and have a look in the following post.

ATLAS (Roco) ALCO S-2 Sound install

Both Greg W. and I thought of this at almost the same time:

I used a Loksound Micro Select 73800 programmed for ALCO 539T 6 cylinder and TDS SuperSonic Mini Speaker (sugar cube) and enclosure.  I am very happy with the sound qualities of this and the install in an old model like this wan't bad.

This video didn't turn out so great in the visual aspect, but you get the chance to hear the sound:

CY&PRR First Run!

This evening, 2-28-17, I ran a first end-to-end run from Riverdale to Chicago on my re-building Chicago Yellowstone and Pacific.  I cleaned off enough building junk and made up a train and ran for the first time in more than a year since the remodeling started. Still a lot of rough places to work on.  Here is a photo journey of this event:

At Riverdale, EMD re-built Baldwin #41 makes up train for waiting RS-1 #160.

Prototype scene here

I took this photo last March after a light snow freshened up the landscape.  A friend said it would make a great Christmas card, so here it is,  Shown is Canadian National (IC) GP38-2 9605:

CY&PRR - Potato Time

It's potato harvesting time in Central Wisconsin and carloads of this commodity are being shipped to the cities.  Here we see CY&P 79, a Fairbanks-Morse H10-44 spotting a couple of Soo Line potato cars in Chicago at the City Fruit Exchange.

CY&PRR - Fitting An Odd Roof

I'm getting a little more time as summer wanes now to again do some hobby stuff.  I am constructing an addition onto the City Fruit Exchange building.  I used DPM modular components for the odd, non- rectangular addition.  Instead of trying my luck with measuring and cutting on the styrene as there is only one right angle, I first made a card-stock template.

CY&PRR - A First Look At West Linncott

Thanks to a really crappy Spring this year, I have been allowed more time indoors and have applied it toward my rebuild/new direction project first mentioned here:
